Split Stay - double credits on Check Out / Check In day?

Apologies in advance, this has probably been asking a million times but after reading for some time, I can't find the answer.

I have a split stay coming up and I have the dining plan booked for both parts.

The day I check out / check in, in the middle of the trip, will I have double credits available? In other words, the last day of my first resort and the first day of my second resort?

I hope this makes sense!

Thank you in advance!

The credits from your first stay won't expire until midnight on your check-out day. However, you are given credits based on the number of NIGHTS in your stay, so you won't have "double credits" on your switch day.

Thanks! I wasn't really sure, based on them having to keep the two reservations separate. But I figured knowing Disney I would have to pay twice or something lol.

The dining plan is based on the number of nights you are staying. All of your dining plan credits for your first resort stay will be given to you when you check in. On your check out/check in day you'll have any leftover credits from your first stay, plus you'll receive all of your credits for your second dining plan when you check in for at second resort. On that day use up the credits from your first plan because they will expire at 11:59 PM that night. The only thing you cannot do is use 1 credit from the first plan and 1 credit from the second plan for a 2 credit meal.

I called to book my ADRs. After 3 tries I found a CM who would book all my ADRS for my split stay. I booked Hoop Dee Doo Revue on my check-out/check-in day. This 2-credit ADR has to be pre-paid and tickets for the dinner picked up in advance. Later, I got wondering which of my 2 resort's dining credits the Disney Dining CM allocated for this ADR. So I called back and sure enough, HDDR was booked using dining credits from Resort #1. In my ADR plans, I had allocated all my Resort #1 dining credits for other TS meals, not to include HDDR. So on my second phone call, the only choice the CM gave me was to either pay OOP for the dinner show, or I had to cancel the original HDDR ADR and re-book it, specifying use of Resort #2's dining credits. Lucky for me, my date and time were still available. This is something to be mindful of when booking a special dining event like HDDR, Spirit of Aloha or CRT for their split stay check-out/check-in day.

You don't "book" HDDR with dining credits. You don't even have any dining credits at the time you book. You do not actually have credits in your account until after you have checked into your resort. What you are doing when you book is letting the system know that you are going to use dining credits to pay when you get there, and you don't want to prepay.

What you cannot do is use 1 credit from Stay 1 plus one credit from Stay 2 to pay for the 2 credit meal.

So it really doesn't matter at the time you book it... they will still let you book it without prepaying. However, when the time comes to pay for the tickets with your DDP (at the time you pick them up) and you do not have the requisite credits remaining in your account, at that point you would have to pay up with cash. Or you could pay with credits from the second stay. At any rate you can do that when you get there, you don't have to do it ahead of time.

So you can put off the payment until you arrive to pick up the tickets, or you can arrange to pay for the prepaid meal when you book it (you should probably do that by phone if you want to arrange it because the online system will probably only know that you have a dining plan, and not that you won't have enough credits to ultimately pay for that meal.)

During my second call to Disney Dining, I had given a CC for payment. So I guess I am pre-paid by CC. I want to pick up the tickets when I arrive at my first resort. I need a HA table and I worry about limited HA seating. I want to switch from paying with CC to using Dining Credits to pay for HDDR, but I don't want to use my first resort's Dining Credits. I want to use my second resort's Dining Credits. And I won't check in to my second resort until four days later -- the day of the HDDR show. Honestly, I don't trust that Disney would use the correct dining credits even when I explained which credits to use. (They don't have a good record of understanding what you're talking about, IMO.)

Now four days later I check in to my second resort, and I arrive for HDDR later that day. Can I switch from payment by CC to payment with second resort Dining Credits when I arrive at HDDR for the actual dinner? That would seem the safest bet for me, if it can be done.

Yes you should be able to. Let them know you want to pay with dining credits and which account you want to take the credits from. You must have already checked in to your second resort. Of course they could muck that up - there isn't much Disney can't muck up - but since you've paid already you won't lose the tickets.

Thanks, TDC Nala. You gave me the answer I was looking for. I must be already checked in to the second resort to use the second resort's dining credits. I can't use those credits in advance when I pick up my HDDR tickets prior to second resort check-in.

exactly, because you do not have access to your dining credits until after you have checked in.

I had to pre-pay by cc too, but was told that it would be refunded at the show. Does anyone know if this is correct? Thanks!
