Split stay - Disney resort, then Swan/Dolphin?

If I were to do a split stay between a value and either the Swan or Dolphin, how would that work?

Just curious if there's any difficulty in getting FPs for your entire stay, or taking DME from the airport (if a Disney operated hotel is the first reservation)?

Also, is there any way to transfer luggage from your Disney hotel to the Swan/Dolphin?

Thanks in advance!

You would be able to take DME from airport to the WDW resort, but not back to MCO from Swan/Dolphin.
I am not sure if WDW transfers luggage to Swan/Dolphin. I always prefer to get a taxi early morning and take my own luggage to next hotel. If room isn’t ready I just leave it with Bell Service. This way I know my luggage will be at the hotel when I need it. Disney doesn’t start luggage delivery until 3:00pm.
FPs shouldn’t be a problem as long as your tickets and both hotel reservations are connected to MDE account.

As @Sue M correctly answered your other questions, I will say that yes you can have your WDW Resort transfer your bags to the Swan/Dolphin. It also works the other way too.

Doesn't sound bad at all. It might be a slightly cheaper way for me to at least get a portion of my time in the Epcot resorts area. Thank you!

Still debating, still watching discounts. My Disney deluxe stay has to wait, so I thought this could be a good compromise.

It would be. We used to do a lot of split stays, between moderate and deluxe. Good way to extend your Disney dollars.
