We haven't been down since the pandemic began. Will bell services still move your luggage between hotels on a split stay, or will we have to do that ourselves?

Yes, baggage transfer between Disney-owned resorts is still operating as it did pre-pandemic.

Enjoy your trip!
Haven't used it before but considering it- can you do online check in for both 1st & 2nd resort, go to a park for opening time on check out day of 1st & go to 2nd resort at end of day & room is all set with your luggage in it?

Not quite. Absolutely you have the bags taken by bell services at resort #1 and can go to a park for rope drop. However at the second resort, your bags will have arrived to the bell services desk but you will need to call for them to bring them up (and tip...). The only time bags come into your room without you there was with the (now defunct) magical express luggage service. On a split stay Disney still moves the bags, but you've got to call down to have them brought up at resort #2.

Can you stop a bell services at resort #2 and just pick up your luggage instead of calling them to bring it? We are doing a split stay with just one luggage with wheels each person.

Yes! We just did this this past weekend. We stayed at the Boardwalk for the first portion and then when we got to the Grand Floridian for the 2nd half, we just checked with bell services before heading to our room. Our luggage wasn't there yet, but they called around 30 minutes later that it had arrived. I was able to walk down and grab it :)

Okay good!

Keep in mind that it may take several hours for your luggage to be transferred and arrive at bell services at your second resort. Some reports here have been 12+ hours in some cases. To avoid this, many people opt to Uber to their second resort with their luggage so they can check it with bell services before going to the park for the day, in order to make sure their luggage is there when they come back. If you do this, bell services is typically at the resort entrance where you'd be dropped off, so it would be relatively quick and easy to drop your bags and head out.

Will they also transfer groceries (including perishables)?
I believe they can, but I don't think I'd trust them with anything that needs to be refrigerated. Its possible it could be outside of refrigeration for a while, or even forgotten since it would be separated from your luggage. I would just Uber with my stuff in this case.

We did in July. It was just yogurt, cream cheese, and some iced tea. Items that are ok if they sit out for a little bit. We did put the case of water in the car.
We were heading to a park on transfer day and it was a tiny car. Most of it wouldn’t have fit.

Yes, they will transfer perishables. I’m sure mistakes can happen given the multiple people and transfer points along the journey, but we’ve never had a problem with items arriving at stop #2 as intended, FWIW.

Have you ever had an issue with getting your room when you arrive at the 2nd resort?

In early Dec, I was able to check in before 10a at all 3 resorts I split. CCV, BCV, and AKV. I have heard horror stories here on the boards so it's hit or miss.

Planning on doing this for the first time in June. Going from AKV to BWV and wondering if it's worth stopping at BWV before heading to DHS or EP for that day instead of just leaving it to be transferred while I'm at the park. I think just based on transportation it'll be easier to have Disney do it since there's no direct route from AKV to BWV.

I'm planning on building another lightsaber, will they transfer that or do you think its too risky?

Has anyone gone to Legoland on transfer/split stay day? Does this seem like an ok idea? or is it better to stay within the resort area on this day?

They will move a lightsaber.

Unless you have someplace better to put it (eg, your car?) I’d be perfectly comfortable letting Bells Services move it. Beats carrying it around, which is awkward.

I haven’t done Legoland on transfer day, but have often opted for a water park day for similar reasons. Some place I’m likely to go to and be for awhile, not returning to resort #2 until later in the day.

Legoland isn’t all that far, but it’s not close either. If you’re trying to be there at opening that likely requires you to be fully packed/ready to go the night before or early that morning, since you’ll need to get up and on your way to Legoland relatively quickly.
