Split stay at same resort: how do I know if I can keep the same room?

So I have room only at Pop November 12-14, then package 14-20. TA has let them know it's a continuing reservation so hoping we don't have to move rooms. How will I know?? Planning to leave for rope drop early the 14th and check out and have put earliest possible time for online checkin time. Will they let us know at the desk when we check out if we have to move rooms or not??

I had a split stay where it was marked as a continuing res. When I checked in for the first res I told the front desk I had two reservations and asked if I was gonna have to move, and they were able to check for me right there.

They should be able to tell you when you arrive on the 12th if you will have to move on the 14th. Rooms will have been assigned by then for the 2nd trip

I'll say that we've never had to move rooms for any continuing reservations. They really do try hard to let you stay in the same room so your odds are good.

When you arrive for the first reservation, let the castmember at the front desk know you have a continuing reservation. Sometimes they will be able to tell you if you are remaining in the same room at that time, but on other occasions you won't know until you go back to the front desk to check out/check back in at the start of your second stay. As long as it is for the exact same room category they will do their best to keep you in the same room.

Great, thanks!

you can also call in and put the request on your reservation ahead of time - that's worked for me in the past :)

You should call ahead of time and have it noted on both reservations that you have two reservations and would like to keep the same room. They should be able to let you know when you check in for your first reservation if you will have to move or not. We've done this twice and didn't have to move either time and they let us know we had the same room when we checked in to the first.

FYI, OP has said their TA has already told Disney they have a continuing reservation. Their hoping to find out the status on if they got it as early as possible since they'll be out and about on the day it switches

Ah I missed the part about the TA.

No worries, I think several did ;)

I really do think OP will know when they arrive on their first day if they'll get to stay or if they'll have to move. I imagine their room for stay #2 will be assigned in the computer by then

Agreed, as I said before we've found out when we arrived both times we did this. :thumbsup2 We actually had 3 one night stays booked for a weekend and were told upon arrival we wouldn't have to move for the other two reservations. We did get a room ready text every morning at about 6AM though lol.

I've not heard of many people having to move so I wouldn't stress about it.

Us too! I was laying in bed at BWI when my phone went off. Twice. Once it was the notice that our room was not quite ready and then a few seconds later it was the alert giving us the room number, of the room we were in. That was the only stay where they did that. The others didn't do the text part. I'm sure it's something they can turn off/on and whoever was doing the roll over just didn't turn off our room alert for that trip. I got a kick out of it

I agree, you will want to go to the front desk to check in for the first one and they should be able to tell you at that time. Even when I did an 18 day stay at WL and the split point was day 14 they were able to tell me I would not have to move. The important thing is that both reservations are for the same room type. Both of my WL reservations were courtyard view, but the story could have been different if one was courtyard and the other standard.

FWIW in 2013 we had a continuing reservation and were NOT in the same room. We had two single nights reserved for two nights total and they were unable to accommodate us even though they told us that they could when we checked in the previous night.

Just curious, when did they let you know? I can imagine coming back from the park and not being able to get in the room, only to find that someone had packed my stuff for me and moved it, which I would not like. Did they leave a message the night before?

When we checked in the morning of the next day. I can't imagine someone would pack your stuff and move it for you.

We have split stays most years, within the same resort (we rent DVC points) and we've had some years where we can stay in the same place, and others where we've had to move (at OKW). I guess if you take a room that's available for your whole stay, even if it's not in the location/building you wanted, you'll be fine. We prefer to move so we could have our preferred building, so it's our own doing really.
