Hello, need a quick opnion from the DIS commuinty.

Our upcoming trip this fall happens to start 1 day prior to the valid free dining dates. I would like to try and book two reservations as follows:

Reservation 1 - September 28, 1 night room only (3 rooms)
Reservation 2 - Sept 29 - Oct 4, 5 nights w/ 6 days of tickets (pick up early) and the free dinning.

My two questions are:
1 - What is the best way to book this package? Assuming the resort we want is available for the DDP dates and we book over the phone, does the room only reservation have to be done on the phone vs online? Does it matter?
2 - There are a large number of young children split over the three rooms, what are the odds that Disney does not physically make us check into a new room?

It wouldn't matter how you book either room only or package. My preference is to call, particularly with the website weirdness. What you do want to make sure of is to call and have the CM req that you don't switch rooms and note that it is a continuing reservation.

Odds are hard to say since it depends on availability and no one here know that. Overall I think they're pretty accommodating.

1. It doesn't matter how you book either reservation. I always get quotes online and then call to book. Since you are wanting to book RO prior to the start of a package at the same resort, if it were me, I'd book everything together over the phone so you can have the reservations linked together with any requests noted.

2. When you book (provided you are able to get the same resort/room type for both reservations), have the CM link the 2 reservations together and put in a request that you would like to stay in the same room. When you check in for the first reservation, tell the CM you have a continuing reservation and would like to keep the same room if possible. The chance of you having to move is probably pretty slim, but it is possible. The CM will do everything he/she can to avoid you having to move, but keep in mind that it is just a request and it is possible you won't be able to stay in the same room.
