How many MBs do they send for your stay if you do split stays?
I just saw mine popped up with both BLT and GFV.
So I'm not sure if I can customize different colors or if I should do just the same for both.
I'm not sure what to do...

As I type this now I am on hold with member services about this. It seems as of now we will receive 2 bands each for the split stay, both can be the same or different. Just one of the bugs there working on. The other that they are helping me with is my reservations and tickets are loaded, linked, but it isn't letting me pick my fasspasses. We will see.

So basically they will send us a set of bands for each stay?
And we will have to change bands when we move on to the next resort?
That'll be fun...

Your band is tied to you, not your reservation. Both of your bands should work for both stays as long as everything is linked to your My Disney Experience account. Eventually they will expect you to bring your bands back on future stays as they will remain linked to your MDE account. Right now they are sending out one per reservation but, again, they both should work for your entire trip.

You have the option to order bands for each section of your trip. You do not have to. They won't send you any bands unless your order them. If you only want one set, then only order one.

You can use the bands from the first resort for the second.

When do I need to order my bands by? My trip is for late December. I have not ordered any tickets yet.

Thanks everyone!

I was just wondering if we will need to switch because that night get confusing :)
Knowing we won't have to makes me feel better.

I have a similar situation. We are staying at BLT for 4 nights but under two different reservations (both in a 1 bed lake view, so hoping we don't have to change rooms). The first 3 nights are booked through CRO and the last night through DVC points. Yesterday I spoke with a CM who said I will get two sets of bracelets due to the two room reservations and both sets would work for the entire stay. We shall see how that works out with the two different room reservations and as a room key!

I think a lot of people are misunderstanding how the magic bands work. No information is on the band itself. All information is in your MDE account. The band's chip accesses that information in Disney's database. Therefore, the two sets of bands will work for everything as they are both accessing the same account.

Then why are they bothering to send me two sets of bands????

They are sending one band per reservation right now because most guests do not have them yet and it is easier to just send multiple bands during the roll out phase...but that will change. Eventually it is expected that you will bring your band(s) back for each trip.

Does it matter if a split stay is part with dvc points and part with cash? For instance, we'll have 4 nights SSR with points and one night POFQ. I wondered if both resorts would be participating in Nov. and if so, would it be a problem. Both ressies under MDE.

I have a split stay coming up and ordered both sets of bands.

Because this is still in testing I am bringing both just in case. I am willing to help test but I like to be prepared so I don't have to waste a lot of time in case something goes wrong. :)

We have a complicated stay as we booked DVC well in advance and then after the 7 month window (when resorts open to all DVC members) tried unsuccesfully to add on to the stay in the same type of room. So we needed to book in a separate reservation. Therefore, for our group of 11, we have several different room reservations. Just last week, I tired to add on again, but then cancelled those reservations. I have already received 3 shipments of magic bands and expect to receive 3 more.

Apparently, that is one of the "glitches' that has not yet been fixed - the system won't link the reservations into one continuous trip and only ship one set of bands. I was told by the CM that I only need to bring one set of bands on our trip.

Good grief!
That's a lot of bands... :lmao:

Thanks everyone. I just don't want to leave a set behind only to find that I need both.

From the MagicBand & Cards FAQ:
Q. I have multiple MagicBands or cards. How do I manage them?

A. You manage your MagicBands or cards in the MagicBand section of My Profile. For example, you are able to:
  • Activate or deactivate MagicBands or cards
  • Report a MagicBand or card as lost
  • Customize MagicBands before they are shipped
Multiple MagicBands or cards can be assigned to a single person, so activating a new MagicBand or card does not mean that you must deactivate an existing MagicBand or card. All active MagicBands or cards assigned to a person have access to the benefits and entitlements for that person. Adding a new MagicBand or card does not add new entitlements, such as additional theme park admissions.

If you require additional assistance managing your MagicBands or cards, please contact us or visit any Guest Relations location at Walt Disney World Resort.

Nope! :)

I think that is a wise idea.

Since they are insisting on sending a set with every reservation I am using the opportunity to get as many different colors as possible. Then I'll have one that goes with whatever I am wearing. :) Seriously, I wish they would fix the glitch because it is such a waste, but since the bands are good for several years I figure I'll get use out of each one.

Good grief!
That's a lot of bands... :lmao:

If they continue sending one with each reservation I will have all seven colors by January. Two came from one reservation where there was a problem and I ended up being sent a second band, two will come from our November split-stay and three will come from our January split-stay.

I am keeping one of the MB boxes as a storage box for everyone's bands. By the end of our January trip the box should be quite full.

So.......The most important thing to do is.....make sure everything is linked to our MDE accounts?

Is this right??? We have all of our reservations, events (F&W can not wait!) and ADRs linked to our DVC account but some things still aren't linked to our MDE accounts.

So will the bands only allow us to access the events linked to the MDE????

Thanks

That is correct. Anything linked to your MDE account is accessible by your band. And yes, your bands will only work on what you have linked to MDE.

In addition, you will not be able to make FP+ selections until your tickets are linked to MDE. You will then be able to make FP+ selections for the number of days of park admission linked to your account.

There have been some reports of issues with linking some types of tickets (although most people have no issues) so my advice would be to link your tickets as soon as you have them. You will have to assign each ticket to a MDE profile but they can be re-assigned until they are used the first time.

How and when do you order the Magic Bands or do they automatically send them out to everyone at a certain time before their upcoming trip?
