We have a split stay 3 nights at AKV then 7 nights at contemporary. If we are doing the meal plan how will that work to make sure we all of our 3 nights worth of snack and qs and ts credits before it starts using the 7 night stay ones? I know they usually expire at midnight on check out day.

If possible, use up all your credits from the first stay before you check into the second stay. After you check in, the system is still supposed to "just work" like you'd expect, using the previous credits first before the new ones. Make sure you go to the front desk and make them check you out when you leave the first resort. They should be able to print out a list of all your remaining credits. You cannot combine credits from two different stays for the same meal, and all old credits need to be used before the new ones. This can be a problem if you're dining at a two-credit restaurant, or changing from the deluxe plan to the standard plan between stays.

I had this exact same ? for our split stay in December, stressed out about it and posted on these boards too. Very easy and no problems to do it. Yes, the credits do expire at midnight on the check out day of your first stay, but the system "knows" to use old credits before new ones. We kept our dining receipts just in case and checked at resort guest services the next day just to verify that all was properly used. Was told if the system messed up they could correct it there if need be.

It won't hurt to check!

I'm also on a split stay next week, first two days are RO, then package for the second half of the trip, with DDP. I swear I read somewhere that I can use TS credits during our RO stay, pay by credit card, then when we check in for the second half of the trip, ask a CM to reimburse us for the meal by deducting TS credits. Does anyone know if this is true or did I dream this all up??

You must have been dreaming. Your dining credits don't start until you check into your hotel with that package. They will not reimburse your OOP with credits from days before that.

Your bill will be settled and they won't even see the charges when you check in for the second reservation. It must have been a dream. Or someone "hoped" it would work and it turned into a rumor somewhere else.

If that's what happened then somebody got a sweetheart deal. From everything that has been said about the dining plan on the 'net, it is not possible to pay for meals on a previous room reservation and then be "reimbursed" by trading the previously paid restaurant bills for dining credits. The money part regarding dining credits is taken care of at the restaurant end; whenever a guest uses a credit at a restaurant, Disney reimburses that restaurant a set amount per credit. Your resort can't "reimburse" YOU for the "anticipated" use of dining credits.
