Split stay and charging to the room

For my upcoming trip next week, I technically have a split stay, which I have never done before. We will check into Pop Wednesday night, then have to check-out of the first reservation and check-in to the new one Thursday morning, which I will do very early, before going to the parks for the day. Our split stay is for the same room type at the same resort. My account is set up for charging to the room and we like using that feature. Any idea which reservation will be used for room charging on Thursday when we have checked out of the first and into the second? It matters to me because I plan to pay for most room charges with gift cards. If they apply the charges to the second reservation, I know I'll have no issues, since I'll have a couple of days to go have the gift cards applied to the account. If they apply them to the first reservation, I suspect they will automatically charge my CC on file, since we will have already checked out of that reservation. Worst case, I'll just forgot the charging with magicband and pay directly with the gift card on Thursday, but would be nice to know how it works.

I did a split stay in May (switched resorts) and charged to both rooms. My purchases on the transition day went to the second reservation. I would guess that it would work the same way even if staying at the same resort, but you may want to check with the resort to be sure.

What if you just used the GCs directly on the transition day?

Thanks for that info. I plan to check with the front desk the morning we transition to see if they know how it should work.

Bumbershoot, right now, that's actually what I think we will end up doing. It's more important to me to be able to pay for food with the gift cards than it is to have the convenience of the magicbands, so on that first day, I think I may just pay with the GCs directly and then pay with magicbands the second and third day when there's no question which reservation we are on.
