Looking at booking a bounceback for next year. Would like to 3 days AKL Savanah view on top on our normal All Star Music stay. We'd do 9 nights at the Music (our normal home), and 3 at AKL. I'm really torn between doing this before or after.
AKL Before:
Pros:
Relaxing start to vacation
Easier move since we won't unpack much
High possibily of AsMU room ready if moving mid-day
Cons:
Have to move all the snacks we get delivered via Instacart
Early flight coming in, room probably not ready
Second resort is a "step down" (but what we're used to)

AKL after:
Pros:
Relaxing end to vacation
The nicest resort is after the "cheap" one

Cons:
Have to do a big packing job 3 days before the actual end of vacation (i unpack all the suitcase), I fear we'll feel our vacation is ending.
Won't profit much from our last day, if our flight is mid-day
AKL Room probablu won't be ready until late in our change day

Any thoughts?

Ironically I did the exact same split stay many years ago (I got a super-inexpensive rate at AKL because it was new). I did ASMusic first and AKL second, and I can't imagine doing it the other way. Once I walked into the lobby of AKL, my jaw dropped with the beauty and I can't imagine going back to ASMusic.

Agree with AKL second. It'll be like a whole new vacation starting over for you again - be it like a long weekend length! If you'll have a car, pack up at your convenience, then drive and leave your bags with Bell Services. Perhaps plan a day at the pool while waiting for your room. Would highly recommend you plan to take advantage of some great food options at AKL, including Boma and/or Sanaa. Enjoy your very long (and fun) trip!

I personally would look into renting DVC points then book Music directly through Disney. Easier to sort your dates that way too.

Well, I kind of knew it would side this way, but it is unanimous! Thanks to everyone who chimed in

The AKL stay is intended to be resort focused which is why it made sense to spend 3 full days there. I'll book everything this afternoon. 9 night music (starting on the Sunday), folowed by 3 nights at thr AKL. And then hope we do actually go on this trip next summer.

Just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a very nice CM. I can never understand why it's so long, but hey! He booked 2 packages (so only 200$ deposit per reservation), now everything looks good. Hope we actually go next year. Last time I booked a BB was in 2019, and we evidently had to cancel in 2020.

I would save the best for last and do AKL then.

Have a great trip.

I would still look at renting points on here for your AKL, maybe with the savings you could get an extra day at AKL and drop one of your other days.

I'll price this out and decide early next year. Considering that I am only 50% sure we'll actually do this trip, I won't commit anything but a fully refundable Disney deposit.

I'd rent points ,looking for the best deal, and rent all the days at AK,but giving up the savannah view.i did it in the past,ONCE,and after building it up in my head, was dissapointed for what it cost and what I got to see.

I would def look at what nights you are at AKLand plan my park days accordingly as deluxe guests get extended evening hours
