Split stay? 2 nights at Moderate/2 nights at Value?

Hi! I am curious if anyone has any input about whether or not you can split your resort stays. For instance, if we would want to reserve 2 nights at a Moderate resort (such as Disney's Carribbean Beach resort/Port Orleans) and then stay a couple nights at a value resort (such as Pop Century/All-Star Sports), is that allowed/doable? Do you have any suggestions on how to do this? and what combination of resorts would you recommend?
Thanks!!

Yes, you can split your stay to as many nights as you want at as many resorts as you want. Disney will even transfer your bags from one to the other while you go enjoy the parks. I’ll leave it to someone else to recommend which resorts as I’ve only stayed at one moderate before.

Of the values and moderates we have stayed at, our favs are POP and Port Orleans.
Second choices would be All Star Music and Coronado Springs.

If I was doing this split stay it would be to save money on the values, so I would choose which is the cheapest at the time, and to pick a moderate with the best pool as that is the main difference between the two.

We are doing just this in a couple of weeks. We had planned a 2 night trip and wanted to add two more nights on, but needed to do it on a budget. We are doing Pop and POFQ. I would recommend doing the value first, as going the other direction can be a bit of a let down. If you are doing it for $ purposes I agree with the PP that you should just select the cheapest option. for the moderate, it depends on what is most important to you. We love CSR and CBR, but they are both huge resorts and you may prefer something smaller like POFQ. You could select either your value (AoA or Pop) or Moderate (CBR) to be a skyliner resort and do you HS and Epcot days while at that resort.

If you are planning on going to Epcot, it is nice to have Epcot on the resort change day, as they open a bit later and it gives you time to get the bags packed and checked with bell services and still not miss a lot of park time.

If all of the members of your group are responsible enough to reliably pack their own things I think a POP/POFQ or a All-stars/CBR would be your best combo. That way you get one skyliner resort with either choice. (Though I would lean toward POP/POFQ, for my own familiarity & beignets.)

I'm the person responsible for packing and unpacking the family, two kids 7&9 and an absent-minded professor DH. I would not consider a split stay unless we were at least 4 nights at each resort. It would be too much work for me while on vacation. I would stay value all four nights and put the savings toward an individual attraction lightning lane purchase or Genie + for a day...maybe one of those dole whips with rum at AK too.

Yes! For a value resort, I really like Pop Century for the Skyliner access.

For moderate resorts, I like Caribbean Beach (also for the Skyliner) or either Port Orleans resorts. They have good pools and theming.

We sometimes stay a couple nights in a studio and move to a 1 BR (we're DVC). We pack specifically for that stay, so we don't have to pack up to move on for the next 7+ nights. You have more energy that I do to attempt 2/2! Personally, I would stay all four nights at one resort that works for you location wise :laundy:

As others have indicated, split stays are doable. Just know that you will have 2 separate reservations. It will be a reservation for each resort. So, if you were thinking of doing a package, it would be cheaper on tickets to buy on the first reservation for all days.

We love split stays and do them almost every stay. I like the experience of two different resorts during our stay. It feels like a new vacation when we move to the new resort. We also plan our park days to be closest to the resort we are at. When we stay at a Boardwalk area resort, we do EP and HS on those days. We then plan our MK days on the day when we will be an an MK area resort. AK is usually on our move day since you have to take a bus there regardless of where you are staying. But I also like the idea that @DizKids2 mentioned to do EP on your move day to allow more time in the morning to pack up.

The process on your move day is to pack up all of your things that you want Disney to move for you and take that to Bell Services and ask them to transfer your luggage to your new resort. They will probably tell you that the luggage should be at your new resort between 3-5pm. This timing has been pretty accurate in all of our experiences. It's even been there earlier sometimes. I think maybe once it was later than 5pm. The bummer part of move day is that your new room may not be ready until 4pm or later. So, you will be without a room from about 11am - 4pm (or whenever your new room is ready). Sometimes we will make move day a full-ish park day so we don't have to worry about waiting for our room. Other times our move day might be a DS day where we check out of our room at 10:30 -11am and then head to DS for a few hours. We might then head to the new resort and see if our room is ready early. If it isn't, we will just wander around the resort for a while and check things out.

One thing to note: if you have any refrigerated items, Disney recently made some changes to their policy regarding transferring those things. I don't know all of the details around that, so if it's something you were hoping for, you will want to check into it first.

Pop to CB I don't think I would split stay for the one. I would Pop the whole time. Moderates just aren't doing it for us anymore.
