Split Resort Question

hi everyone,

I have a dilemma I hope people can help me with.

I have a reservation for 1 night at CBR and 2 nights at ASMov, I just called to see if the first night was available at ASMov, which it’s not

She then tells me that CBR is available for all 3 nights for a total of $90 more on the resort.

I wanted to stay at ASMov since I have never stayed there and I am almost done staying at all the resorts on property (I have stayed at CBR before and the only one besides the AS Resorts is the CSR which isn’t available)

Should I keep the split stay (and I know they will transfer my luggage for me) or take the CBR for the 3 nights and forget about ASMov this trip?

Sorry for the long post but I’m so confused

Thanks in advance

Nathan

Is this the trip that's on your ticker in 11 days? I would say yes, stay at CBR in a heartbeat, except are you aware of the major construction going on there? That would probably deter me from staying there now, but some don't mind it. It's definitely something to consider while making your decision. There are specifics regarding what's being done and what's closed on the CBR thread. Have fun whatever you choose!

You should play around with the dates on the Disney website to see if you can make it appear. I’ve found some weird inconsistencies before. Example: I’ve found no availability for 4 straight days but could find something available for 8 days instead. I would book the 8 days online and call later to adjust my dates after I booked it online.

You need to be very careful doing this now. They have changed their approach. They are no longer allowing folks to just drop days, unless the complete new reservation is available. So for example, you want 4 nights but you could only book 8. When you call they will not simply allow you to drop the extra nights unless there is a 4 night reservation available. They have reportedly implemented/changed their computer algorithm to limit the "orphan" nights they had.
OP I would keep your reservation

Noooooooo! My fiancé is in his residency and we never know which week is his vacation until a few months before. I always need to modify our dates. Disney trips are going to be so hard to plan now :(

Keep it split. One night in a construction zone is plenty. It’s so easy to do a split stay. Drop you bags off at bell services. Have a fun day at the parks. Then catch the bus to your new resort. You will have to call bell services once you check in to your new room to have your luggage delivered. Enjoy!
Oh, and keep checking a couple times a day, because that extra night might become available at AsMov due to a last minute cancellation. Even if it has to stay as a separate reservation, maybe at check in you could get lucky and be told you won’t have to change rooms.

I do this too. I’ve never booked more nights than I actually want (though I am tempted to try it right now for November; in the event I’m told I can’t do that as 4 nights aren’t available and I’ll have a 5 night reservation, I intend to just cancel it and stay elsewhere). In the past I have had some success booking each night individually or booking in groups of two nights (when all 4 nights were unavailable consecutively) and then calling and getting Guest Services to link my reservations.

I’ve done individual days too when we’ve had to piece something together last minute. I really hope they have some wiggle room with the new system. I’ve never gone from a 14 day reservation to a single weekend trip or something drastic. I usually just need to adjust our arrival and/or departure by a day or two. I always book over to be on the safe side since it’s difficult to add days.

Nathan....keep your reservation for ASMov! I am trying something new also............1 night at AoA and then off to my fav resort the Villas/WL:flower:
