OK...We have ressies at AKL in a grand villa from May 1st-6th for 12 people. We are all on the dining plan. My brother and his wife have decided they won't make it down until the 4th.
They would be stuck paying for 5 nights on the dining plan, even though they will be there only 2 nights. I called MS two weeks ago and was told if you split your ressie you have to check out and in an extra time but you may have to move to another room. Today I called and the very nice lady assured me (she spoke to a supervisor) that we would stay in the same room, we just would have to go to the front desk and check out and in again. Does this make sense? Which CM is correct? Splitting the ressie would not force my brother to pay more for the dining plan but I want to make sure we stay in the same room. Anyone have any experience lately with split ressies:confused3

I had split reservations and I did not have to check in and out everyday and I used the same card everyday of my stay.

I've been told by multiple CM's that if you have a split reservation that involves the dining plan for part of your stay, you will have to check out/check in and have different room keys, but stay in the same room. I have 3 upcoming reservations that have the dining plan for part of the stay, so I haven't personally done this yet.

How about if you just reserve for 11 people? That way your brother and his wife will split 5 days worth of DDP - it'll be 2 1/2 days each.so really just costing 1 extra day and they'll be able to go home with lots of snacks...
No split stays, no checking in and out, etc...
They really don't care how many are in the room...as long as it's not over the limit...I mean, they're not cleaning or anything...

We have done several split stays and have not had to switch rooms. In fact one trip we wanted to switch rooms and they would not let us. OH well at least I did not have to pack up and move.
