Split reservation at same resort?

Hi there! We currently have a vacation booked at the Beach Club for the day after Thanksgiving until the following Friday (2013). But, after doing some planning and seeing how much I want to see with all the holiday decorations and special events, I'm considering adding on 2 more nights...the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving. I think I would just do a room only reservation for those 2 nights since we won't do parks those couple days and will spend our time looking at resort decorations and a couple other non-park things I want to do. However, my biggest question/concern is: What are the chances we'd be able to keep our same room since technically we'll have 2 separate reservations (at the same resort)? We'd have to check out Friday morning and then check in again later on Friday. I'm a little concerned about being "homeless" that day and not having a place for DD2 to nap. Anyone out there done this? Is there a way to give myself a better chance of being able to keep our same room?

YOu can "link" the two reservations together. Then when you check in, request the same room. You will have to go back to the reservation desk the day of your 2nd reservation and have new keys made, but you should be able to stay in the same room. There is a small chance that you won't be able to do this, but there is a greater chance that you will.

Oh! That's great to know! I'll take a small chance that we won't have the same room. :goodvibes

Thanks!

If you book the same category (view), you shouldn't have any trouble staying in the same room. We had 3 consecutive one-night reservations at Pop last Fall (r/o, 1 night Premium Package, r/o) and stayed in the same room the entire trip. You can check in for your 2nd reservation at 7:00 AM and they'll confirm you're staying in the same room. I figure it's easier on Disney to allow you to stay in the same room - much less housekeeping time for a family to stay put as opposed to getting that room ready for a new family, plus getting another room ready for yours.

We did online checkin for all our reservations at one time and double-checked when we checked in the first time that it was noted that we had continuing reservations.

Good to hear of someone who has done this with success. Gives me a little more confidence that it will work out fine. :thumbsup2

I don't understand why you need to make a separate reservation for the additional 2 days. Why not just add 2 days to the start of your current reservation? You don't have to add extra days to the park ticket part of your package if you don't want to go to the parks.

I'd just call and add the days onto your current reservation. Not sure if you like Free Dinging or not but chances are you will end up with a split stay anyways. The day before thru the day after Thanksgiving on 1 reservation room only (20-22) then a Free Dining Pkg if it's released like it has been in the last couple of years from Saturday (23-29) til you check out

Maybe the package isn't available for those extra nights.

Either way, I did the same thing at WL because there was a 14 day max on the room only discount I booked, and I was there for 17 days. I just went down to the front desk and they swapped out my keys and I signed a paper, and that was it. I did mention the continuing reservation when I checked in. I also had the same room type booked for both reservations.

I have gone the Saturday after Thanksgiving for several years, and had a discount the last four years.....all four did not start until Sunday and I had to do a split stay.

I just went based on this year which starts on Saturday the 24th and adjusted my dates for next year. If she wants Free Dining she'd have to have a split stay anyways was my point :)

It's for 2013 so there's no discounted pkgs available yet for those dates. She should be able to book a room for the full dates though then adjust it once discounts are released

Just called Disney today and was told that Free Dining 2012 begins the day after Thanksgiving. So, based on that information they recommended that I book a room only for the first two nights and link that reservation to my current reservation. That way I have the best chance of keeping the same room. And, since there are already two separate reservations, it will be easy to apply a discount to my Friday-Friday reservation IF they do come out next year and are similar to this year. Thanks to everyone who responded to steer me in the right direction. I appreciate it.
