So when we booked our stay, they automatically put it into 2 separate reservations because the discount they were offering was not valid for the first two days of our trip. This means that if we want the dxdp for our entire stay then we would have to buy 2 separate park passes...1 two day and 1 seven day......this is obviously more expensive than buying 1 nine day pass.....is there anyway to get around this?

Yes, exactly true.

Is this free dining?

There really isn't any way to do it without buying the passes, but you can buy nine day passes with the first reservation and two day passes (if the discount you booked is not free dining you may be able to get away with 1 day passes) with the second reservation. Then keep the second set of passes for future use.

The problem you would have with this is: you will have to carry both KTTW cards, using the one from the first reservation as your ticket and the one for the second reservation to pay for meals after the first reservations' dining credits expire.

Assuming you do not have free dining since you mentioned 1 day tickets.

You could have all the days you need on your tickets you are checking in under on your first reservation.

On the second reservation, save those tickets for a future trip. Just make sure not to use the tickets from the second reservation.
You can even upgrade the second tickets on a future stay.
