Just wondering if anyone has been to BB lately and been charged a split plate fee for dessert?!?!? We want to take our three kids but are nervous after the thread about the fee to split a meal went up to $12. Any info from someone who has been there recently would be great!! I don't want to be shocked when I recieve my bill!! LOL

BTW: We are 5 days and counting!! :cool1: So hard to keep it a secret from DS8!!

We've never done just dessert but when we do have dessert after a meal we've never been charged a split plate fee.

You don't need to split dessert. For our trip last year we went to BB just for dessert. We ordered the Cookie boat (which BTW is the best dessert EVER) and 4 spoons. No splitting necesssary. Put it in the middle and dig in :thumbsup2. We also sat on the water on the very end (and did tell the hostess we were just there for dessert). While we were there the roll guy came by and gave us dinner rolls also. We did tell him we were just there for dessert and he said that's ok and handed them out  We also got tons of chocolate coins with our bill at the end. And the bill just had the dessert on it :goodvibes

Thanks for the info!! We planned on ordering two cookie boats to share amongst the 5 of us!!! So we will just ask for extra spoons;)!!

When I was at the Blue Bayou they said they do not charge for extra plates. The split fee is when Guest A orders a meal then both Guest A and Guest B each get side dishes, choice of soup or salad, and half a portion of the entree. You are getting more food that way so then they charge more.

So how was your dessert?

The split plate fee is now $12.00? When did that change in price take place? I have not ordered in that fashion, however, I may in the future decide to do so. This charge seems a tad bit high.

It seems ridiculously high, Gisele, I agree.:scared1:

I don't know if it is true or not. Has anyone acutally been charged $12? It would be good if it were confirmed.

I dined there in March with a large group. A friend and I split the mushroom entree. We only got one soup or salad, not one each or even one split on two plates. We did however get full servings of the two sides with half of the entree each. I was full. Not stuffed, but full enough. They charged us the $5 extra. Although still overpriced, it was an economical way to dine there and enjoy the ambiance.:)

Now that makes for an interesting image, attempting to split one bowl of soup or one salad amongst two people. I almost cannot believe that you and your friend were not served more appropriately from that. (As I am shaking my head)
I am glad that you and your friend had a nice meal otherwise, and your tummies were content.
In my opinion, the split plate fee should not be more than $4.00 or $5.00 at the most. And perhaps it still is?

Let's hope it's not actually $12...but yeah, it'd be pretty weird to charge a split plate fee for dessert since when they charge the fee, the food comes out pre-divided from the kitchen (thereby eliminating the visual aesthetic awesomeness of the cookie boat).

According to the waitress at the Blue Bayou it is as follows:

Person A orders dinner. Person A and Person B each get a regular salad or soup, bread, and regular sized sides. The only difference is that they are getting a half portion of the entree.

I asked a CM and stand by what she said. She may be wrong but I was taught to trust CMs unless otherwise proven wrong.

She said that if guests just want plate then they get the plates for free unless they want more food via that split plate fee. So 3 ladies could split a meal and get themselves two extra plates at no extra charge.

My wife and I ate at Blue Bayou (yummmmy!!), and we split a plate. They did not seem to concerned with charging the split plate fee.

We had dessert there are Thursday afternoon. :thumbsup2 We ordered two of the cookie boats and asked for extra spoons. No extra charge for those!! My kids were so excited to go to the BB and may I say the cookie boats were delicious!!!;)
