At sit down restaurants what is the charge to do a split plate? Neither Dd12 nor I can consistently finish an adult serving. But I think a shared plate on the other hand would be too small.

Can we do this in any sit down restaurant ?

Wouldn't a split plate be the same exact amount of food as a shared plate?
At any rate, I've heard that Blue Bayou charges $10 for a split plate. Not sure about other establishments!

It's $12 at BB, every where else would be sharing, currently. You can ask to order extra sides a la carte.

No, a split plate involves each person getting their own soup or salad, while a shared plate is just the regular meal.

I think there's also a $5 split glass fee and the 28% gratuity is automatically applied. :)

I think I read that Cafe Orleans has a $4 split plate charge

I thought it was $5 the last time we ate at CO, but it doesn't seem to be applied consistently. We share or split all the time, and BB is the only TS restaurant that charges the split fee every time. CO has never charged us for some reason, even though we've split the Monte Cristo many times.

There is a difference between split and share. If you split the entree each person gets a full serving of the sides and at BB their own gumbo or salad, but only half the main dish, The split plate fee is for the additional side that is served for the second person.

If you tell the server you want to share, it is one meal divided between 2 people. Sometimes the meal will be divided in the kitchen, but other times an extra plate will be brought to the table and it is up to you to divide the meal. There is no additional charge for the shared meal because you are not getting any extra sides.
