We would love to eat at Shula's, but my dd and I don't eat a huge amount (at one time!!) of steak. They seem to have a split plate charge of $10. Have any of you done this before??? Is there any issue with it??? My dd is 16 but has a smallish appetite. If we have to order her her own entree then I figure we'll stick with Flying Fish, but would love to try Shula's.

Any thoughts???

Dh and I usually share one entree and one salad as our main course when dining at Shula's. We also share an appetizer and dessert. We usually order a bottle of wine as well. We have not been charged for a shared entree, even though the charge is noted on the menu. We also, however, do not ask for the entree to be split between two plates.

IMO, Shula's is the best dining option anywhere on Disney property. The first time there, my wife and I both ordered a Filet Mignon and a Cold Water Lobster tail. Way way to much food. Last couple times there, one of us gets the Filet and the other gets the Lobster Tail. Very tasty and more than enough food. Enjoy your visit.:cool1::banana:

Be prepared to pay the fee. My experience was the same as the PP (different Shula's). I ordered extras (adult beverages, appetizers and desserts). My sharing charge was waived.

I never asked to have the fee waived. The waiter told me about the charge. The waiter suggested the steak wasn't big enough to share. It looked like he could eat the entire steak. I told him we were sharing so we'd have room for soup and dessert. I jokingly said something like I'm sure if we're still hungry we'll have no problem finding something else on the menu to order. The waiter was fine. The steak was big enough to share.

I don't know if Shula's has a definite policy on waiving the fee. I figure if the value of my extras is more then the cost of an entree the restaurant is getting enough $$$.

Suggestion--If you're sharing at lunch ask. Sometimes the cheapest entree (burger?) is cheaper then the sharing charge.

When dining out, even when DH & I order separate entrees, we often still share - I eat some of his food & he eats some of my food. Often I only order a salad because I don't want as much food as he does.

To avoid the sharing fee, couldn't one person order a steak & the other order a salad (or side dish) & not mention sharing? If the salad person adds some bites of steak to their salad & the steak person adds a bit of salad to their plate, I don't see how a sharing fee could be charged - no extra plate was given & each person ordered something.

Enjoy, Julie

I went to Shula's for dinner last summer with a group of six adults. We ordered drinks, then wine, then multiple appetizers to share. For entrees, most ordered their own entree, but I and another lady shared a roast lamb plate which was served to us on separate plates, and someone had to cut the big lamb bone in half to do that. I do not believe we were charged, as our party ordered so much food/drink/dessert. But even if we were charged, the piece of meat I received was HUGE, and cooked to perfection! It was truly a memorable meal!! :)

This is tricky because the policy is there so they may charge you even though I don't think they normally do if you're spending sufficiently overall. But you should be prepared.

This policy is bothersome to me because my other normal steakhouse, The Palm at the Hard Rock, not only lets you share, we've actually had them encourage it!!!

Shula's needs to follow suit and get this silly policy removed. When DD and I were there last week, I told you guys her Prime Rib (listed at 32oz) was as big as her head! She had it for dinner that night and there was enough for both of us to share for dinner the following night! They can't expect every member to order this type of entree IMO.

I have it on good authority that they no longer charge a fee to share.
Just curious if this fee is advertised anywhere??
