Split drive from TN to WDW, hotel recommendations?

This fall, we'll be driving to WDW. Since we'll be traveling with our new "Littlest Princess", we've decided to split the drive into two days. We've also decided to make the first leg of the trip the longer one, which will put us around the FL/AL border, and no farther than Tallahassee, going down I-10 (around 10 hours).

Has anyone used this general area as a stopping point? If so, can you recommend any hotels that won't be in a bad part of town and not murder on our budget?
