Split DDP?

I know this is a dumb question but not having kids, I was asked by a friend if the ddp has to be purchased for all the people in your party? They do not think the kids will benefit from it as they usually share meals. It would benefit the parents.

Yes, everyone registered on the room reservation must get the same dining plan. So they will have to get it for the kids if the adults want to have it. Everybody has to get the plan, or nobody does.

Should they want to attend any character meals, they will definitely benefit from having their kids on the plan.
 
That is what I figured but had to ask. Thank you for the response.
 
Also, it depends what they mean by "kids." If they're under three years old, then they don't pay for dining and eat off others plates for free. If ten or older, they pay the adult price and the plan is usually more expensive than just paying out of pocket. Children three through nine are the sweet spot for the dining plan; their low cost really subsidizes the cost for the adults.
