Split AK/HS Strategy

On our upcoming trip in August, we will only have 3 days to dedicate to parks because it is a split trip with a convention I am attending. Because of this, we have decided to spend full days at Epcot and MK and then split 1 day between AK and HS. This will be before GE opens if that matters.

I am trying to figure out the best way to schedule my FS on the split day. We are visiting AK first because we have a late breakfast reservation at 10:40 for Tusker House. This means we should have time to rope drop some attractions before we eat. The main rides we are interested in there are N'avi River Journey, Safaris, and Dinosaur (my family is not interested in FOP). We also would probably catch a couple shows like It's Tough to Be a Bug and Lion King.

At HS, we mostly want to ride the TSL rides, Star Tours, Little Mermaid, and some of the shows like Frozen Singalong.

Does it make more sense to rope drop everything we can at AK and schedule our FS later in the day all for HS? Or should we schedule them for AK and try to grab what we can for HS later after we use those? My biggest concern is getting SDD. I'm afraid we wouldn't be able to grab a same day FS for that.

Yes; this is best because you can try to book 1 of the 3 TSL rides and 2 Tier 2s.

If you are at AK 45 minutes before RD, you should be able to walk onto Navi with little wait as most of the crowd will be going to FoP. I would then head to EE and ride once or twice.
You still should not have a long wait at Safari.
You may even have time to go through GOoilla Falls before Breakfast.

I would do the FPs for afternoon at HS.

Yes, that would be the best plan. On a light crowd day in December the Safari line was less than 30 minutes an hour after the park opened. I’d do Navi, then safari just based on the location of each
