Splenda Woes, anyone else?

I finally went to the dr yesterday after suffering off and on for the past three months with gas, bloating, cramps (classical IBS symptoms). The first question she asked was "Do you use Splenda?". I don't know for sure yet if that's my problem, but I am starting a total elimination diet today to try to figure out the offending food(s). I did a quick search on Splenda and gas and discovered this is a common problem.

Has anyone else experienced this? I am so disappointed, as I absolutely love Splenda :(

If you've had trouble, is it an all or nothing situation, or can you use it in moderation? I've been using it for years so I'm a little surprised to all of the sudden have a terrible reaction to it.

I have IBS and I use Splenda with no problems. I would have to say I use it moderately, not in and on everything. But I haven't had the problems that real sugar use to cause me.

I can only use Splenda in small amounts for the exact reasons you stated above--my system just cannot tolerate it very well! :crazy2: I really wish I coud use it on a regular basis--it's in so many reduced-sugar items and I hate having to pass them by. Even though I'm not a low-carber, I'd love to use the Splenda products.
 
Try Stevia. It is an all natural sweetener. Look for it at your natural food store/health food store. You will have to do some experimenting with it... it is very strong and you usually have to dilute it with water and use just a few drops at a time. It make take a bit of time to get used to the taste, but it is SOOOO much better for you than Splenda or (horrors...) Equal. ......P
 

I haven't had that problem with the Splenda but I can only eat the sugar alcohols in SMALL quantities. I tried some sugar free jelly beans and thought I was going to die.
