On a recommendation, I bought Splat permanent hair dye in the Maroon color. I bleached out the back of my hair (under - You can't see it unless I have my hair up) and then put the maroon dye in. It looks really good, and I'm really happy with the results. Only problem.... I played tennis today (the day after dying it) and with the sweating, the dye started rolling down my back and chest, and stained part of my neck. When it first happened, one of the woman I was hitting against had this horrified look on her face and thought I was bleeding!!! :scared1:

The stain is gone now that I've showered, but it was really embarrassing having that happen!!

Has anyone used this product, and have it happen before? Is there anything I can do to prevent it from happening again? I don't play tennis again till next week - Will it be fully absorbed by then??

TIA

Be sure to rinse it well when applying. The dye left in your hair that was running down your neck wasn't thoroughly rinsed out.

I bleach parts of my hair and dye it a variety of colors... my stylist advised me that if I can, wait 3 days before washing my hair to help the color stay in. I've always had really good luck doing that and keeping my color.

But apart from avoiding playing tennis and sweating, I don't think there's much you could have done. However, you should be fine by next week... the excess color should wash out by then.

I've been dyeing my hair a dark burgundy-purple for many, many years now (by a stylist). No matter how much she rinses, no matter how clear the water is when she does it, my hair ALWAYS "bleeds" a little for the next week when it gets wet. At this point, I figure it's just the nature of the color :confused3

Daughter did this before a WDW and Universal trip. I was pretty horrified at the towels after she washed her hair! Could not imagine how they got so stained.

That's why I keep all dark blue or Black towels for DD13's bathroom. She dyes her hair with Splat Red.

I have been a stylist for 24 years and have always done my hair some shade of red. Red color always bleeds. Even into the 4 th week. I try to use a red or dark towel. For tennis, if I were you, I would make sure to wear a high ponytail and maybe a sweatband.
