Anyone who has visited lately notice in what I think is the laughing place, the water features aren't working? There is no hopping water or anything

Sorry to say that the dancing/hopping water in the lowest cavern is one of the most common features/scenes to be out-out-of-service in Splash Mtn.

I figure it doesn't work 40-60% of the year. Year-after-year.

I've seen it over the years. Most recently I saw a few scenes where the animatronics weren't functioning and the audio was off.

It happens. Hopefully Splash we go for refurb soon.

I wasn't working last October. Has anyone seen it working since?

This really bugs me because it seems to me fixing them would not be very complex or expensive. Even if they have to drain the water, a short refurb of a week could get them back in order.

Same with the boulders in BTMRR. How tough would have been to get them working when they did the last refurb?

There was a thread last summer about maintenance (or the lack of it). I posted that my #1 concern was a list of about 20 things that didn't work in Splash Mtn as of August 2011.

It was not shut for refurb this year due to BTMRR being down. Going on a year now of a sub-par ride with much magic lost due to elements of it not working.

I also thought "give me a week and my toolbox and I can get 80% of it back up." Disney has lost their way a bit when it comes to maintaining the details that make their tickets worth more than the competition. :(

It's been down for going on a full year. I wonder how much of it was because SM didn't get its refurb this last January (due to BTMRR being down for its own).

I don't know how difficult it is for them to keep that kind of thing going, but it is kind of annoying to see it continually broken when it seems like it would normally be a simple fix. Maybe it isn't that simple, but if so, that's so much more the reason they need to try and increase the reliability of whatever keeps breaking.

well, Poopsticks! Last year was our first time there, and we didn't know anything was wrong.

Guess this will stick out like a sore thumb for our next trip.

I have noticed them being on and off multiple times during one trip. I used to think it had something to do with how hot it was outside, but it seems to be something that breaks a lot or is turned off and on a lot.

Once we rode and there was no audio or music the entire ride. Very disappointing.

That's one of my favorite parts of the ride. It has been off the last two trips (Sept. and Nov. of 2011...but I think it was also off in June of 2010- maybe by chance?) Such a disappointment- Splash is my favorite ride and it really needs a good refurb (especially if that means the ride won't stop 10 times because of Brer Fox and Brer Bear causing some commotion downstream.) I would have thought they could have fixed some of these issues when they installed the lap bars.

We got home 2 weeks ago and the issues on Splash weren't the only thing we noticed. Splash definitely needs some TLC. The interactive cue area was not working at Space Mtn. BTMMR, for it having been down for so long is sure having it's run of problems and we had quite a few instances of where it was just closed for mechanical problems. It's very obvious that Disney is not paying attention to the details that we all love and it's sad. The new expansion better make up for all of the lack of love the remaining attractions are experiencing.
