I keep hearing about how messed up Splash Mountain is. What is the problem? Is it the AA's, or the boats? I know every time Iam on SM the boats always get backed up, and I am always stuck for a least 15 minutes(always right before slippin falls drop).Iam planning a mid July trip down to Disney, and I hope its not closed for rehab. Also I have never been to Disney World in late June to mid July. What are the crowds like around that time of year?

Hey Mitch,

You'll probably get a better and quicker response regaring the ride and the crowds, if you post on the Theme Park Attractions and Strategies board.

I've never been stuck or hung up on Splash Mountain and that is one of my favorites.

There are occasional two or ghree minute waits, and you can get soaked if you have to wait beside the waterfall before one of the small drops.

Small delays happen all the time resulting in backups all around the ride, if someone needs assistance climbing in or out of the log at the boarding area.

My last ride on Splash at WDW was in August. Here's what my gripes are. I really don't care about the back-ups - hey, it gives me more ride time;)

I was disgusted by all the garbage laying around (drink cups wedged up in the crevices of the mountain, etc.). The inside of the logs are very mildewy, time for a rehab there. There was GRAFITTI on the walls of the mountain as you wait in line. Of course, I'm a Splash Mountain freak, so I really look at details, maybe the occasional rider wouldn't have noticed (but I doubt it).

Some of the AA didn't seem to be moving properly, like they were doing AA tranquilizers or something.

Other than that, the ride was great. I still enjoy it, but would like to see it given some attention, so it can look as great as it did in it's early years.

im a major splash mountain lover. is it really badd? by that i mean is the ride still enjoyable even with these probs?

When we were there about two weeks ago, they had "experienced some technical problems, and will be running shortly" which I guess shortly to them is about three hours... no joke. For about 10 yrs my dream was to ride on Splash Mountain, as I never had before, we get there at abour 4:30 and no water is running on the drop, and my heart sinks. We find out we can get a FP for about 6, come back at 6 w/ a FP and it still isn't running. at about 8:30 it lets down its first log of people.... I never end up going on it. But anyways now that you all have heard my sad story (or not so sad) the CMs were saying that they might have to go under rehab after this one...... must have been bad......?

That one does seem to go down often, doesn't it? Unfortunately they can only take so many rides/attractions down at one time for rehab or the uprisings will be begin. There are quite a few that are in need, and I'm sure they are working their way through them. I do find it frustrating when I'm stuck on a ride (not moving) for more than 10-15 minutes (screws up the schedule we're trying to keep). Also, on Splash being stuck right before that drop is nerve wrecking!!

It is no going in to rehab. It is a Small World & Buzzlightyear thing "might" be. From june- Jan. b/c they r doing LOTS of work.

The stalling may be from trying to get old or handycap people off and on the rides. Lots of people like that like thrill rides.

When we were there in March, I swear the ride was slightly different. The water in the frogs area was not as I remembered it - I remember leaping fountains sorta like the ones in Epcot near "Honey I Shrunk the Audience", and these leaping fountains would lead the boat just a little. Am I just hallucinating, making this up? Or was it like this at one point?

I've never gotten stuck on this ride or stopped for longer than the pause at the bottom of the approach to the big drop. I feel more dismayed if my log DOESN'T take a pause before starting up the hill when the log in front of me hasn't gone over yet! :)

Last year I saw Disneyland's Splash Mountain for the first time and was surprised at how fast it moved. It wasn't that usual leisurely float through the chute. We totally flew by all of the animatronics, trying to look at them quick!

Have you guys really been stuck on any ride for fifteen minutes or long enough to screw up your schedule? I've only ever experienced two- or three-minute stops (which can be more than enough, depending on what loop you're sitting near! ;))

You're correct.

The two rabbits in one scene before you go to the "laughin' place" used to talk about Brer Rabbit and Brer Fox. You'd see their shadows running across the background as well. Now, the rabbits just kinda of stand there, do not speak, no shadows on the walls.

The fish no longer jumps out of the water where the frog is sitting on the back of the alligator fishing.

When you went into the room where they were singing about the "laughing place" there was leaping fountains. They no longer do that. In one of the fountains there was a turtle being "bounced" in the air by a stream of water...he no longer does that.

There were a few other differences where the characters no longer spoke, but I can't remember. It's kinda of sad how Disney let that ride kind of die like that.

I am a big Splash Mountain freak too and I've noticed all of these things. I've also noticed that for at least the last year that B'rer Rabbit has disappeard from the scene where Br'er Fox is yelling at Br'er Bear because he got caught in the rabbit trap. They're on the right of the log and straight ahead of you (and on then on the left as you turn) Br'er Rabbit would bound by with his satchel on a stick and laugh at them. Then he said something about going to the laughing place. I can understand that features may break from time to time, but you'd think after a year they'd get it fixed!

We were at MK 2 weeks ago and decided to ride Splash Mountain(haven't done so in about 5 years) so we got FP's for like 7 PM the ride was up and running but no sooner we get up there to get in the log everything stopped. They were announcing technical difficultys for like the next 1/2 hour. So we just waited for it to start again we werent turning around and when it did start it was kind of slow and we were stuck waiting for the others to unload for about 15 mins. So i am guessing it needs a good rehab or better timing when it comes to the logs.
