So how splashy is it these days? I remember a few years ago, people were talking about being soaked through. DH is getting cold feet because he doesn’t want his phone to get wet 🙄 Setting aside that I have a ziplocks just for that purpose, what should we be expecting here?

We just got back from DLR. My granddaughter and son-in-law got soaked on Splash Mountain. My granddaughter was drenched even before the big drop. I love the ride but did not go on it this time because the idea of being totally wet does not appeal to me.

Okay good to know. Skipping it would be an emotional wrench, but being drenched isn‘t super appealing either, really. I’m fine to be kind of wet, or actually splashed, but we didn’t do Grizzly River Run for a reason, kwim?

Saw a few recent blogger videos, looks like its a higher water level than in the past to me also….

At least in WDW, Splash when it first opened, was a drenching ride…..and i mean shoe squishing levels, where you could see water trails and foot prints away from the ride….

The used to have a sign that said “You will get soaked”…..and sell tshirts promising it also… This was in the first few months of it opening….

Pretty soon guests complained that it was a ride designed to soak you, and make you buy dry clothing in the parks….

I think they turned down the water levels after that, and have tinkered with them ever since…

On cold days, its definitely lower in WDW.

Just on it a couple weeks ago and got drenched. The next couple of days will be pretty warm, so perfect time to ride Splash. The dry out time is quick in CA, since it’s dry here vs humid in FL. Ziplocks are a great idea!

I’ll be there today, but don’t plan on riding as I’m solo and always think it’s more fun with friends and family. I love watching people go down the dip at the pic spot!

It depends on where you sit and how full your boat is. Last year, I sat with my daughter in the middle of the log, and no one else was in it. A little splashy, thought it was fun.

Next ride same day, I get the front seat and it was full log. I got super drenched. I was wearing a mask (last year required), and the 2nd drop in the dark, a tidal wave of water drenched me right smack in my face. I couldn't breath for a beat, had to take my mask off because too wet to breath through. The big drop splash was also pretty wet. But I would say the initial in-the-dark-can't-even-see-it splash was the kicker. Not sitting in front again, ever.

Yeah, it depends, but the problem I've had is that the logs take on water so keeping your shoes dry is tough. You do dry quick in CA, but not your shoes! It can depend on where you sit and how loaded the boat is. They turn off water effects in cooler weather (at WDW too), but natural splashes are still present, and they can overwhelm the boat at DL!

Sounds like it's still a soaker. I remember going in November 2019 and being in the 3rd and 4th seat with DH (me in 3), my parents were in the back two seats. At one point it was like someone took a bucket of water and threw it on my lap. I was drenched (like down to my undies drenched lol). My parents barely had any water on them in the back rows. So maybe you guys can ask for the last three seats with the bravest (or willing to get soaked) person in the front of the group? I am crossing my fingers and toes it will still be open this November and plan to ride it as much as possible, soaked or not.

I agree that it depends on where you sit and probably varies from ride to ride. I was in the front with my kid behind me and I got completely drenched from my head to my knees (thankfully my shoes stayed dried). It wasn't the drops so much as this giant curtain of water that just came down on my head at one point about 2/3 through the ride.

My kid only got medium wet and all the people behind us had just a few drops. I unfortunately was wearing heavy jeans and it took a several hours to feel completely dry. If I ride again I'll wear quick drying clothing.

We were just there last week and got absolutely soaked our first ride. Like someone dumped a bucket of water on my head soaked. But this was also because we were seated in the first and second row.

Second time we rode I asked for the back and we didn't get nearly as wet. They also sell ponchos over by Haunted Mansion if you want to throw one of those on before you ride and just ask to sit in the back of the log!

I wouldn't skip the ride- its a classic and worth the hassle of getting wet!

H and I have said "never again," although we might this year since it will be July and we're staying at GCH (and have a better idea of what to expect).

The first (and only!) time we were on it was 2018. H in the front, me 2nd, our nephew and a friend behind us. H and I got drenched, our nephew and our friend barely got wet. We stayed relatively dry until we hit the bottom of the big drop. The nose of our log went down and flooded us with water. OMG, the only other time I've been that uncomfortable was when someone threw me in a pool fully clothed!

I always bring sandals and change out of those if they get drenched. I can handle wet clothes, wet shoes not so much haha
We went in November and the first 2 ppl in the car got soaked the other 2 got very wet but not soaked.

Exact same thing like a bucket of water from above before the drop straight in our laps.

I bring little flip flops for the line and ride, put sneakers and socks in a bag held closed. Change back right off the ride.

Yeah, last time I was on it, I was with a buddy who is a failry large gentleman - like pushing 300 - and the CM sat him in the very front! I thought tha tlog was gonna sink! On all the drops the front of the boat dunked under and water rushed in over the top. I was wearing a plastic poncho and it filled up with water between my knees - I didn't want to dump it into the boat so I held it until we got out.

We sat on rows 3-6 last Friday. I was in 3, DD12 in 4, DD14 in 5, DW in 6. I got soaked on both legs down to my shoes and a little on my arms. DD12 got soaked in her shoes and a little on her shirt. DD14 and DW did not get soaked except for a small amount. Funny enough, the big drop did not soak me. It was the smaller drops along the way where the first part of the boat dips down and the water spills over. I tried to lift my feet under the sides but that didn't work as the water just waterfalled onto me. I handed my backpack and phone to my wife in row 6 and everything stayed dry. The guy in row 1 was completely drenched.

I think if you get the back of the boat, you're fine. If you get the front, where a poncho or some open toed sandals. We aimed for the ride around the time we left to go back to the hotel. It was a chore sloshing back to the hotel in wet socks.

They used to hand out ziplocks for your phone. It would be wise to get one or put it in a waterproof backpack.

Oh one tip- just ask one of the stores for a plastic bag and put everything in that! I usually carry a Loungefly or fanny pack and I'll put our phones/etc. in my bag then put it in the plastic shopping bag and hold it closed. Never have had an issue with our things getting wet doing that!

This is my sons favorite ride so I'm subjected to many rides on it when we go. 😆
