Splash Mountain in December?

Will be at MK 12/13. My current touring plan has me at Splash Mountain mid-morning... and I'm thus somewhat concerned about getting wet on a potentially cold day. Trying to figure out if I risk it (taking some measures to reduce risk), skip it, or re-plan the day.

I'll say this, we've done Splash once a year the last 3-4 years.. we have never gotten wet enough to mind. But I read some threads where people say they've been soaked (either by ride, cannons, or the splash from waterfall on left when waiting near end), and am a bit worried given our trip is in December.

Would this work as a good plan to reduce the risk? (Family of 4 - would rather prevent kids and wife from getting wet if possible.. ok if I'm in the higher risk spot).
- Bring small towel to wipe seat if wet when we get in
- Ask we sit on the last 2 rows - have kids sit on the left, adults on right (me on the 2nd to last row and wife on last row?)
- Wear our rain-coats (we usually travel with rain coats instead of ponchos)
- Put out feet up from floor (is there a little 'ledge' we can put our feet on?)

Also, do they reduce any of those water features (water level, cannons, waterfall?) come December?

Thanks

I have ridden in December and January in the last few years. I find that the water cannons that shoot off as you go down the drop are not usually going if it is cold outside. The water level also seems lower than when I've been during hot months, but that could be an illusion. As long as it's not raining, I've never ended up totally soaked from riding Splash. To be on the safe side, I'll end up requesting to sit in the back of the boat. I usually end up staying drier there than being in the very front.

I believe I read/saw somewhere that they do control the water level and wetness factor during the cooler months.

Just buy some dollar store ponchos for that ride specifically and then throw them away.
When I wear a poncho on Splash Mountain I don't worry about getting wet because it doesn't happen.
The ponchos should cover your butt so no need for a towel.
Also no there is not a ledge but the water does not generally pool up on the floor so that should not be a problem.
If you are extremely concerned then just don't ride.

99% chance it'll still be really hot during that time. To avoid the most water where ponchos and ride on the left side of the car. You usually get soaked on the right side by water shooting out after you've done the drop

Yup, ponchos are a cheap and easy fix and they're a buck so you can just toss them and not have to cart them around all day. And there's a chance it will still be warm. Check out the weather forecast the day before and you can finalize your plan!

We've done it in December on a chilly night. Buy dollar store ponchos- wear them for the ride, then throw them in the trash. The time we rode it there was a boy pointing at us and kind of making fun of us when we got on the ride. After the ride, he and his family were soaked, and he pointed at us and said to his Mom something like "Mom, I'm freezing, why weren't we smart like them and wore ponchos?"

This is one of DD's favorites so we ride no matter what. Earlier in the day for her mid December trip (that year I wore tshirts, capris and a hoodie in the morning/evening) we didn't get wet at all during the day. We rode again later that evening and DD did get wet. We didn't have ponchos and if it was earlier in the day, she would have been fine. We ended up buying a pair of lightweight sweat pants for her to change into.
