HI, Just booked our trip.... Is it worth it to do the Spirit of Aloha? We are bringing my Mom, age 59, and two kids ages 2 and 4.

Thanks!

I will add to Kerry's question to ask if they serve meat-on-a-stick like they do at O'Hana's? It must be the most awesome resturant on property but we are having no luck with ressie as they are booked and are looking for a substitute.:confused3

Yes, I am sure you would enjoy it. No, they do not serve the meat skewers. They serve chickn, ribs, fried rice, salad.

Bumping for more feedback...anyone been there , tried it? Would it be good for their ages?
Is it worth 2 table services?
Thanks!

well there have been a lot of mixed reviews about this dinner show. i will tell you that we went 2 years ago and loved it. in fairness we had great seats, front center, and that definitely helped, but we also loved the food. we are pretty picky on food but my dh and ds and myself all thought it was our best meal and ds thought it was one of the very best things we did on our trip. the food is brought in a long platter, not on skewers like ohana. the ribs chicken and pineapple were great when we went and all were cooked properly. we are actually booked to return in february. we thought the show was fun and ds loved the firedancer. i have been to quite a few luaus before and this is different from a traditional luau because of the type of musical review, but we just all really enjoyed it. not sure why some people don't like it , but maybe the food or service varies and we hit it on a good night. i can update after we go in february. i would definitely say that seating matters for this show and would go for the best seating tier if you can. sitting in the back might not be so much fun. we are also trying ohana this trip and hope we like that. we have eaten at kona before and liked that very much as well. for us, it seems, the poly has some of the better food at wdw. good luck!:)

We have been three times and thoroughly enjoyed it each time. The food is superb, and it might be one of the better meals we have eaten. They also have kids meals available for extremely picky eaters, but I found that even the kids that ordered the kids meals still ate some of the food on the platters.
The fruit is fresh and tastes fabulous, and the bread is fantastic too. The boys (ranging 8-40) held a rib eating contest, and our servers always made sure that we had plenty of food. Entertainment is good and kept everyone intrigued; however, the best view is in the center. Our second time we had to sit in the front at one end, and it was hardest to see from there. If nothing else, make sure to walk around the Polynesian. The resort is beautiful, and we have taken some beautiful pictures there.

There are mixed reviews that say the show is boring. To me, this is what I love about WDW -- the dining experiences with characters, entertainment, music, etc.... Dining at home is boring. Dining with a luau, belly dancing, characters, etc... is a lot of fun.

Spirit of Aloha provides something for everyone. It is a series of music and dances, all a little bit different. There's some "eye candy" for the men and women. Audience participation including a time for children to come on stage and try dancing. The fire juggler is near the end of the show and that was the best part -- so don't leave early! The food was very good - coconut bread, salad, grilled pineapple, ribs (very good), and baked chicken (never got past the ribs to try the chicken!).... Beer and wine too. And options for picky children including hot dogs or peanut butter/jelly sandwiches (have to ask for these things at your table).

The whole Polynesian Resort is awesome at night. I encourage you to walk around the resort after the show, especially along the beach between the volcano pool and the Tahiti Building -- you will enjoy the tiki torches, the hawaiian music playing from outdoor speakers, the lagoon and views of the castle. The MK fireworks are wonderful to watch from the beach. Grab a spot in a chair or hammock or on a towel. The lighted boat parade also passes by this area around 9pm so if you time your Aloha show right, you can go to the beach and see both. If your kids like Lilo and Stitch, the gft shop has lots of stuff. And the lobby is nice with lots of foilage and a waterfall.

We went last March & everyone in our group loved the food and really enjoyed the entertainment. The unlimited wine/beer was also a nice perk. I'd definitely do it again w/ people that have never been.

When are you going? This show is cancelled for inclement weather, often with little notice

We've been twice. I would call it average, but we're easy to please and went back knowing that the food is just OK, the wine is pretty bad and the show is mildly entertaining (although we love the fire dancer). We still had a good time - we just lowered our expectations. The service was good :goodvibes.

When we first went (2 yrs ago), our kids were 2 and 4 as well. This was the first meal post kids that my husband and I had enjoyed in a long time. We chalk it up to the fact that the kids were absolutely entranced. I have heard some people complain there's "no story line" etc. But it's more like a review- lots of dance numbers etc. It's not like a mini broadway show (like Lion King or Nemo etc that you see in the parks). It's just dinner entertainment. We also thought the food was good and the kids ate everything. For us, this is particularly a great 1st night thing to do, anticipating our next day at the parks). We also ordered the glow in the dark drink things for the kids (extra of course) and those kept them busy as well. For us, just being able to enjoy a whole meal not having to chase kids is a plus! We booked again this year, because the fire eater and dancers seem to have made an impression on my daughter. We'll let everyone know if the kids were just as entertained this year. also, I agree with the previous poster- we love to walk around the Poly at night. And this year, I think I WILL get one of the those drinks in the Pineapple (LaPu LaPu I think they're called).

We've been thinking about doing this for our upcoming trip, but I've held off on booking it because I'm worried it will be too cold to be sitting outside at night in early February. What do you think?

Thanks,
Lori
