I was thinking of doing this in January while we are staying at the Poly. Can't find that much info on it yet. Is it seasonal? Anyone have any reviews? We have 4 kids: DS2, DD6, DS9, and DS11. DS9 has special needs ie needs something to keep his mind on while eating so we can enjoy our meal!! That's why we love character meals. Usually he likes activity around him. He was scared at Hoop Dee Doo in October though. But we were in a very low crowd---only about 1/4 of the hall was filled and there was almost too much personal attention for him I think. He LOVES shows like Festival of the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, etc. Does the show go on while you are eating? The big question is if it is worth it??? Thanks!

i did not love it, but from what you write of your family, i am going to say "yes" it's worth the money!

also, biergarten is a fun and entertaining place for dinner (and a bit less expensive than spirit of aloha) as is marakesh...

Definately NOT worth the money. The food was luke warm and bland. We did not enjoy the food at all. The show's "story" was weak, but some of the dancing was very good. Also, it is outside and bugs and temperature could be an issue as well.

Just to post an alternative viewpoint -- we enjoyed it very much. The food was tasty (we didn't care for the dessert, though) and the show was great. The polynesian dancers were excellent. We were a party of 10 and had our own table. We thought it was worth the price and would go again. We enjoyed it more than the very authentic luaus in Hawaii we've been to that cost twice a much.

My family also enjoyed the Luau. I think your son will like the dancers, especially the fire dancer. We thought the food was good, DS got the kid's meal and DD was served a delicious vegetarian meal. It was freezing the night we were there, and that changed our plans of going down to the beach afterwards and watching the Water Parade.

I think it would be a good option for your family. Expensive, but go for it!
