So DH and I decided since we are staying at the Poly on our upcoming trip and we have never seen the Spirit of Aloha show, we would add a day to our reservation to see it. My friend from work hasn't been to Disney in years but she recommends we see it, she thought it was so much fun.

Now I am having second thoughts. All the reviews seem to be that everyone was dissapointed or didn't like the show (too corny). We love the HDDR so I am all about corny and fun. Also, I usually don't care how other people feel because everyone likes their own thing, it just seems so many people do not like it.

My question is, would it be worth it for us to stay one more night just so we can squeeze in this show, or don't bother? Any input would be great!

Go!
Don't worry about what people say here. It means nothing really.
My family personally likes SOA, but with my positive you'll find a negative. The ONLY person who can tell you if you like it or not is YOU.
We'll be going to it this Nov. My DD love to hula next to the chairs with the dancers. yeah it may be a corny show, but there is a good message, "remember where you come from".

You have to take everything you read here with a grain of salt. With that being said, I don't like the show at all. I didnt like it when I was 6 and I don't like it when I am 26. The show is long and boring and the food is nothing special. I personally don't think it is worth extending your stay just to see.

I do love the HDDR. That is the one place that was always a must for our family while I was growing up and now I got my girlfriend to want to see it everytime we are there.

My family loves Spirit of Aloha! It's a fun show and the food is so good! :thumbsup2 We won't be going next year since we're going during Thanksgiving week with two little ones and you never know what the weather is going to be like. But we will be visiting again as soon as possible!

If this helps at all I took a group of 150+ people to Disney last summer and we did the Luau the last night we were there and it was a HUGE HIT. The ages ranged from 4 to 70 ... kids, parents and grandparents.

My DS11 and Niece 17 are both begging to go back on this trip.

Food was good. Fire dude was awesome! :-)

I would not stay longer just to see it. Wait until you are there and have more time. It hasn't changed in 30yrs so there is no rush but do make it part of the trip some time it is a fun show. It does get "weathered out" often so be prepared just in case.

Personally, I gave up on reviews! So many people say yes, so many people say no...

We decided that since we have never experienced any of this before, to choose what we think we will like and just book it!

We're going to Spirit of Aloha on our 2nd night there. And quite looking forward to it!

Hi!

Okay, I look at it as value. This is a value that can not be beat for my husband and I. There are 3 category's, we always go with category 3 the cheaper seats, which are fine. It costs us $50.00 per person which includes your appetizers, entree, dessert, show, beverages INCLUDING BEER and WINE and TIP! Personally, I thought the food was very good, they have brown rice, sweet pineapple, great tasting veggies, ribs and chicken and a chocolate cake type dessert. You can also get coffee. Where can you go for $50.00 per person for that? It's also very tropical (well you're at a Luau, LOL). As far as the show, it's okay, but the ending is awesome, it's a guy that does tricks with fire. I would certainly try it.

Have FUN!

I certainly wouldn't add a day to my reservation just for that. The show was looooong and boring and the food was meh. The dessert was actually disgusting. I wouldn't go again if it was free. But, to each his own, this is just my opinion.

Thanks everyone! I think we will try it. This trip is all about trying new things. I appreciate all the feedback.

I just booked the Spirit of Aloha for 5 adults for our May trip! Like I said the show is okay but you'll be getting this for $55.00:

Entertainment (Fireguy is awesome, he's a the end of the show)
Appetizer
Entree
Sides
Dessert
Coffee, soda etc.
and
BEER
and
WINE
and
Gratuity
and
TAX

It really can't be beat! LOL! I don't mean to sound redundant, but I think you may like it. Heck we go for the Wine and Food! LOL!

Have FUN!

We're going to try it for the first time when we go in August! I love corny & fire twirling - not to mention food & drink so it sounds like fun

I would definitely do it! We went to the luau last spring & loved it. The food was really delicious (especially for our pickiest of eaters) & we really enjoyed the all-you-care-to-drink wine/beer. We had a blast!

I booked SOA for our upcoming trip as a surprise for DBF. Even splurged for the Category 1 seating. I can't wait! Although it's getting a little easier to keep the secret from him! I did figure there was a good amount for the price they charge for the show so why not try it?

I loved this show! The atmosphere is great---it's dark (when we went anyways)--there was a wonderful breeze--it was magical! I thought the food was good and the show was cute--plus, the dancers are amazing!

We went one year and we all really loved it. It was somethng different to do, fun show, we thought the food was really quite good my son and nephew ate a ton of ribs. My daughter got called up on stage to help with an act (fun). We all dressed up in some tropical clothes and had a blast. It's all what you make it. Go and enjoy!!!!

The category levels are based on how far away you are from the stage. We got Cat 3 last summer and were in the back corner and could still see well.
