I'm booked for SOA but I'm having second thoughts due to the heat factor. We're booked for Aug 21 and I don't want to roast while trying to enjoy myself. Is Hoop De Doo worth seeing? I'd really appreciate any feedback. Also, What are my transportation options from Poly to Fort Wildnerness. I really don't want to bother with the buses. Thanks in advance!

We love Hoop De Doo. We go at every trip. The kids love it and the show is entertaining for adults as well.

The food is rather boring and mediocre at best, but you are there for the show, not the food.

Funny........I was also torn about this same thing. I booked SOA because we did the Hoop Dee Doo last year.

I will say that we REALLY ENJOYED the Hoop Dee Doo. The main meal was okay (BBQ type stuff) however, the strawberry shortcake was EXCELLENT. The show itself was awesome. The performers really do a great job and they go all over the place. We were in the balcony and they even came up there. My boyfriend and out DD loved playing the washboards with spoons. You have to know my boyfriend (stick in the mudd). :lmao:

I just wanted to try something new. I really really really hope I don't regret it!

Good luck with your decision!

Almost forgot.................you can take the boat from the MK to FW.

I've seen this thread before. It gets pretty heated as there's enough people that love both. But I'd throw my vote in for Hoop De Doo rather than Aloha. SoA's show wasn't very good and the food was so so at best - and not air conditioned.

However, if you've never done SoA, judge for yourself. Even if you don't like it, you'll have something to talk about. ;)

Good luck.

Hoop-Dee-Doo is a must on each of our trips. Most of the people who tend to not like HDDR are people who take the show way to serious and can't find the goof-factor in it. The show is a lot of fun and the food is great as well. It is much better than SoA, which I personally don't like.

I think the easiest way to get to Ft. Wilderness from the Poly is to take the monorail to MK then take a boat over to Ft. Wilderness. I am not sure what time the boats to and from the MK stop, so depending on what time HDDR you might go to, you may have to take a bus back after (I know for the late show, when it lets out there are resort buses to take you back).

We love both shows. Last year, we did the luau in August, and I don't recall being too hot during dinner. I was mre concerned about a passing thunderstorm (but thankfully, we didn't have one that evening).

HDDR is our favorite show. But at this point it may be sold out for Aug 21. If you want to switch make sure you book the new ADR before you cancel the old.

I'm booked for SOA but I'm having second thoughts due to the heat factor.

We're booked for the 5:30 SOA on August 12th. I just talked to my wife last night about changing to Hoop De Do because of the heat. She talked me back into the Luau.

Hoop De Do gets much better ratings overall, but as my wife pointed out, our family is more of a "luau" kind of family. We have tropical parties in the middle of winter when there's 2 feet of snow on the ground!

So, we're going to stick with our reservations. And if we enjoy it as much as I think we will, then we'll try the Hoop De Do Music Review the next time we're in Disney.

I'm going the opposite way.

Not a fan of the Hoop De Doo but LOVED the Spirit of Aloha.

The atmosphere at the SOA is great. The Poly at night is beautiful and you really feel like you are in the South Seas when you're there. Not only did my DW and I love it but by DS (12) and DD (8) loved it as well. The performers were great as was the food.

It has now become a "Must Do" for us each trip.

My suggestion is that you go to the latest show possible to enjoy the beauty of the Poly at night.

Jay
