We are staying at the Poly in Sep, and had kind of gotten excited about the Luau. Now, I am not so sure. I have read some things around the net about the length of the meal/show not being great for young kids (mine will be 5 and 3 while we are there). I also read the the food is only marginal. Now, I know that there is an opinion in every direction out there, but I have read this several times now. I am also thinking that I may not want to use 2 TS credits for it (the Coral Reef is calling to me and I don't have any TS left at this point  ).

Can you guys help me out with your opinions here? If I get a bunch in one place, maybe I can make a decision :scratchin .

We were there a couple of years ago. My DS at the time was 6 and the other was 8. They both enjoyed it especially the guy who does the fire dance. The food was excellent. The kids got their own "box" that had mac n cheese, chicken fingers etc. We all enjoyed it. You will probably get different opinions but sometimes you just gotta try it yourself.

Agree with Matt&Jakesmom....my nephews were 4 and 6 when we went...they enjoyed the show A LOT. And the "boxes" of food were great for picky eaters. For a group of adults only, I'm not sure it's worth it. The show is good, but it's an expensive evening for what you get food wise, IMHO.

It's long. You sit at communal tables. The food is ok but not great. There were a lot of bored, restless kids when we went. Not worth 2 TS credits at all.
Try Ohana for 1 TS credit, with air conditioning, kids activities and better food it is a better choice!

We have been to the Luau twice. The first time my DD was 2, and the second time was this last Jan when she was 5. Both times she LOVED it!! They had the kids come up and learn to hula which she loved. Also in between parts of the show they play music and a lot of the kids go and dance then. The only part of the show where she HAD to stay in her seat was at the end with the dances. But she really enjoyed that especially the fire. As for the food, for the kids they have these special boxes that you could order that had a mini hot dog, mac and cheese and the chicken. My DD ate that. She isn’t a fan of the chicken, so after we finished we asked for more mac and cheese and they brought her that. For some reason I feel like you could also get an uncrustable, but I’m not 100% sure of that.

In Jan we also did Ohanas and she loved that too. There is a woman who sings and does games with the kids. So did coconut races and they made a parade around the restaurant. It was VERY interactive for kids. So that is another option as well. My DD loved both of them!!! So I would say see which appeals to you.

We also went to Coral Reef on that trip. My DD loves Aquariums so she was VERY into eating in the aquarium. If coral reef is calling you and you only have two TS left, then I would say Coral Reef and Ohana would be a good compromise.

We didn't like it at all. We went in Sept. My kids were very restless. They likes their food. I think they had chicken nuggets if I remember right. Our food wasn't very good. I only liked the rice and bread. I don't think it is worth 2 TS credits but I think if you want to try it you should. This way you will know for yourself. Good luck.

Everyone seems to have a different experience. My boys were 4 and 2 last year and both of them enjoyed the show, especially once the dancing started. It was a good experience and they actually did better there than they did at the Coral Reef. That said the food was just okay, nothing memorable, and there are too many restaurants in WDW to try so we will not be going back. But we're glad we tried it once!
