Spirit of Aloha, how did you like it?

We are contemplating after watching some videos of it on youtube. We also watched Hoop dee Doo (kids said way too corny), and Mickey's BBQ (seems like its for little kids), when we came up on the Spirit of Aloha, I looked at the menu from allears and it looks pretty good...what do you all think of it?

What about from teens eyes (13 years old to be exact)?

I think the Luau is more corny then the other two you mentioned. It is a huge waste of money as the entertainment stinks and the food pretty nasty. The only good part about it was the fire dancer. I like the HHDR the best followed by the BBQ.

Oh and what happens if it rains?? Does it get canceled and then you are on your own for dinner?

We are thinking about going to "Spirit of Aloha" because
every trip my DS has really wanted to see it. I will bite the
bullet this upcoming trip and see it, I'm not expecting much.
I have to call for a special diet meal for me so we'll see how hard that will be.
I think that it's worth trying just once.

The food is nothing compared to 'Ohana. They are two different meals. No taste comparison at all. 'Ohana is so much better and a must do each trip. We will be eating at 'Ohana this Saturday night and can't wait!

My 10 and 12 yr. old boys loved the Spirit of Aloha. Yeah, the show is not exactly Hawaii quality, but it wasn't horrible. My kids liked the food-the pineapple was fantastic, and they absolutely loved the chicken, ribs and rice. I liked the veggies, and the rest. The dessert we could live without. Maybe they liked the show a little better because we splurged for level 1-front row seats may have held their interest. We did the Backyard Bar B Q three or four years ago, which was great for their ages back then. Have Fun!

We too had front row seats. My DD was 7 at the time and only thing she liked too was the fire dancer. Honestly, I wouldn't go back if it were free. I was embarrassed to even sit there and watch such a lame show.

1) The Luau frequently is canceled for rain and especially cool temperatures.
2) They wait as long as possible.
3) Most cancellations are 30-45 minutes before show time.
. . . during periods of cold (45º or less), they cancel as early as 3:00pm
. . . for rain, they wait until the very last minute, because it might stop
4) If canceled, you are on your own for dinner.
5) You need to call WDW Dining, or go to Concierge, to see what is available.

NOTE: If the cancellation is under 30-minutes before show time, you sometimes have an option of still eating the food, but without the show.

We actually really enjoyed the show. The food is ok--I certainly wouldn't call it awful like some people have here. There was not anything they served that I wouldn't eat. Maybe I just have lower standards?

The show is sort of corny, but then the other shows at WDW can be too. It was entertaining and my dd loved getting up to hula.
The fire dancer is incredible!!

I would go again--but this next trip, we're doing HDDR instead.

How long does the show last? If we book the 8pm show, around what time will it be done? Can we stay at the beach to watch Wishes?
