spirit of aloha for dinner "reception"?

I thought I posted about this already but maybe I haven't.

I'm getting married at 10 in the morning ... and then we decided to give everyone the afternoon to do what they want.. go back to the hotel and nap or swim or go out to the parks..... then we are all going to meet for dinner in the evening for the 'dinner reception'. That way I have plenty of time to go home and change and relax.....

so my mother has always wanted to do the luau (sp?) at the polynesian and we never have been able to go.. I thought it'd be a nice surprise for her to eat there that night ...

has anyone ever been to the show/dinner? how is it? would it be a good reception dinner location? could I decorate the tables a bit?

I haven't been to the show since they redid it but I can tell you why I would be leary about using it for my wedding:

we had adr's for the luau but even though it wasn't raing at the time (it rained an hour before) they camcelled it. So If you are to use it I would make back up reservations in someone else's name (you can't have 2 ressies at once) just a thought.

well, that is definitely something to think about. How much would that suck if dinner was cancelled? .... hmm.. thanks for the advice!
