I can only get reservations for Category 3 seating at the Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show. Does anyone know how bad these seats are?? We don't expect to have front row seating but I'd like to know that we will at least be able to see the show.

Thank you!

Haven't sat in Category 3....twice in cat. 1 and once in cat. 2. My family prefers cat 1 HANDS DOWN (of course), although it's more expensive and isn't included on the DP. Just asked DD, and she said she wouldn't want to go if seated in cat. 3.

IMHO, I would not spend the money on category 3. I have only done category 1. WHen my DH and myself pay for something, we would rather pay for the good seats or not go at all. They really pack the tables in. It is a very cute show though.

With DxDP, is it even possible to get anything but category 3? We booked ours and were automatically placed in category 3 seating, so I just assumed that category 2 was something you'd have to pay extra for...

Not sure. We paid OOP using TiW so we could get category 1 seating.

You can use the dining plan for category 2 or 3. Category 2 might not have been available for the time you checked. We sat in category 1 and just paid for it and used our dining credits for other restaurants. This year I booked category 2. I'm fine with that since I made my reservation at 180 days in advance - see below for why. I don't think I'd like category 3... seats were far back and visibility might not be great.

Now here's how the seating works... More than you wanted to know. Here's how a CM explained it to me. You can look at the seating chart on Disney's web site - site is down now so I linked it to another chart. The sooner you make your reservation, the better your seats within each category (better means closer and more center). So, if you book at the earliest possible time (180 days in advance), your seats will be better than someone who books 10 days in advance. The number of people in your party also has a determining effect... supposedly....

If you also are booking Hoop Dee Doo.... you can use the dining plan for category 1 for the last show. We had category 2 seats there.... made our reservation only about 30 days in advance and seats were fine. Really at Hoop Dee Doo, I think I'd be happy in any seat. Sitting in the balcony looks like fun too.

Thanks for all the great input. We have the DDP and I was aware that they would only pay for Cat 2 or 3 but I waited to long to make reservations and only Cat 3 is available. I think we're going to the Hoop Dee Doo instead!

Just an update for anyone who calls to make reservations. We had called about 100 days in advance to book all of the reservations for our trip. I told the customer service agent that we were on DxDP. I didn't even realize there WERE different categories of seating for the dinner show, so it wasn't until later that I realized she had put us in category 3 and that DxDP allows you to be in category 2 as well. I just called today and this customer service agent said they had plenty of seats available in category 2 and moved us to that category. It seems that the CSAs aren't aware that DxDP allows for both category 2 and 3 seating and places you in category 3 automatically? The first CSA did not even mention that there were categories of seating...and I've never been to the show so I was regrettably uninformed about the seating until just recently.

At any rate, now we have better seats and are excited about seeing the show... :)

My family would not want to go in cat 3 either. We have been in cat 2 and cat 1. Cat 1 is definately worh it for us. We always do DxDDP but will pay OOP for cat 1 :thumbsup2
