Has anyone flown Spirit airlines from AC to Orlando. How was the airport? Airline? Any info would be great thanks
'Tara

Hi Tara!! I loved using Spirit through AC airport. The airport is very small, parking not expensive - I think about $3-4/day. You just park your car in the lot and walk to the building w/your luggage. I thought the employees there were extremely friendly and helpful (much better than most I've encountered on USAir), the plane was on time, the luggage came off the belt on time, etc. We did have to wait a bit on the return leg of the trip for our luggage, but I could have cared less at that point.

My battery in my car died while we were gone (actually it was my dad's old truck, I had just bought a new car & didn't want anything to happen to it, so I borrowed my dad's  ). The guy that worked at the airline could not have been more helpful - got it started after a bit of fooling around with it.

It was a very pleasant experience - more so than when I've flown out of Philly. I will use that airline again even though it's a little bit farther of a drive, it was much less stressful and laid back than going to PHL.

Good luck with your decision and have a great trip!!:wave2:

Tara, I agree with TZMOM, have flown out of A.C numerous times, and find it to be less stressful than philly. Also there isn't any wait on the runway - you get on the plane and go.

HOW DOES SPIRIT AIRLINE PRICES COMPARE WITH USAIR? LAST MONTH I PAID $186.50 R/T ON USAIR OUT OF PHILLY. DOES AC AIRPORT HAVE A WEBSITE?

THANKS,

LAH

Another vote for Spirit out of AC. (The AC Airport does have a website.) It's much smaller and easier to navigate, parking is much easier, and everyone we have ever encountered has been very friendly. I prefer to fly Spirit out of AC rather than another carrier out of Philadelphia.
I'm looking for airfare for May, and right now US Air out of Philadelphia is way less than Spirit, as is Southwest. I really hate to fly out of Philadelphia, but there's quite a difference in rates. I guess I'll just keep watching for now....

I paid $146.70 for a non stop flight from AC to Orlando, for our October trip, on Spirit!

Ltltee, competition is good :) with SW now begining too fly out of Philly - the price war has begun. If you know well in advance your dates, you can really get a good price going to FL.

I also prefer A.C. but SW was much cheaper for this trip, it's just the seating policies of SW that has me a little concerned. But previous SW patrons have said it is not a problem.

Flying out of AC is an extremely pleasant experience just like TZ says. Small, no big hassles like bigger airporst. I too, have gotten the $149, I think that depends on how early you book.

I agree Lou, competition is good! The US Air prices are lower than I have seen in a while. :D My problem is my May trip is a last-minute thing, and I'm just now looking for airfare -- I wasn't able to book too far in advance. Southwest had the $49 each way fare available for the dates I'm going -- I hesitated and the next day that rate was gone for the return flight. Southwest is still the lowest, although I have seen some pretty good rates with AirTran too.
What I really wish is that Spirit would come down ($999 for 3 as opposed to $623 US Air or $590 for Southwest) because I really prefer to fly out of AC!

I've flown Spirit out of AC a couple of times in the past and had no problems. In May I'll be flying with them out of AC and for 2 RT tickets it came to $318. with taxes and everything. I was always happy with them.

Lori, if you don't mind me asking....
how far in advance did you purchase your tickets?

I'm not Lori, but I paid $298.40 for two roundtrip tickets to Orlando from AC, for our trip in October. I bought them in early January.

Thanks -- right now the fare is $333 RT per person -- there's no way I'm paying that. I had really wanted to go out of AC, but looks like Philadelphia it is.
