Spirit Baggage Question

In reading their website it appears Spirit charges extra for golf clubs...does anyone know whether this is true or not? Also it says there is a $50 charge for extra pieces, is that each way?

If they have it posted then they must charge. Airlines do charge for oversize baggage. Several airlines that I know of charge per flight segment. So if you make a stop they charge you again. Call and ask the airline.

Yes, it is true and the charge for extra pieces is for each leg. IE: one stop, change plance, bam, 100.00 charge for the first way down, same scenario on the way back, bam another 100.00.

Wow! I guess that should be taken into consideration when price shopping. SWA allows the clubs as free baggage and so does the other airlines I looked into....oh well back to shopping around!!

Okay I called the airline...I know should have done that first. They say golf clubs are carried as free baggage as long as they are within size limitations. Apparently the extra charge is for oversized equipment.

I will be calling and verifying this however because it seems to be worded differently on the website. Perhaps I will email them so i have a response in writing to take with me!

size limitations and baggage allowance limitations. If they allow 3 bags and you have 3 pieces of luggage, your golf clubs will be charged as extra baggage.
