Has anyone in here flied on Spirit from O'Hare or Tampa? How was it? How was check-in? Were lines long? What did you need to check in? Did you print boarding passes?

can't fly on spirit out of midway, only o'hare airport.
i have used them on my last 5 trips.

if you book online you can at 90 days out select your seats and print out your boarding passes. if you book thru phone, have to do the seats and boarding passes at the airport.

zero problems at check in with spirit. they really aren't much different than the other carriers except for a few things. cheap and give vouchers and don't cancel their flights if not at full capacity. i have flown them when only 25 passengers were on board and thats for a md80.
if you booked online and your fare rate went down, call spirit and you will be issued a credit voucher. i have done that twice.
any more ??????'s...

Thanks for the reply. I am booked ORD - TPA. Is the check-in line long at ORD? Is there any reason to print out boarding passes online for SPIRIT if i have to check in luggage, becuase I've got to wait at the ticket counter anyways? Thanks.

footballrules,
it just depends when your flight out of ohare is will depend on the length of lines.
i always take the earliest flight out which is about 7:25 am. no lines then.
i get to the airport an hour prior and stand in line by my lonesome. people usually get in line about 20 minutes prior to its opening. usually no problems for the mid afternoon flights for lines. spirit is out of terminal 3

yes, you can check in and get seat assignment and board pass the day you fly at the counter. the only reason i am doing my online is that i am going solo and want to guarantee my desired seat. near the bathroom and on the aisle seat.!!!

since i am traveling alone on my next trip i want to have one of the bulk head seats. i wear a leg brace and will need the extra room this time.
anymore questions?????

Is it by Delta or American or what? Can you check in at the curb? If I am checking bags & I already got an advance seat assignment from the internet, is it worthwile to print a boarding pass or will they just give it to me when I check my bags? Also, do you know what lines will be like for a 10:30am flight? Thanks for answering all these questions.

my last flight with spirit was the end of last september.
at that time curb side check in wasn't happening with spirit.
yes, spirit counter is next to the major one.

if you already have your seat assignment, no need to print out the boarding pass.
you have to check in luggage like you said so get your b. pass then.
some people do not check in luggage and they would print out the b. pass.

anymore???
here i am

I'm looking for Spririt Airline tickets for Spring Break 2005, and the rates are still too high.

Supposedly coming out sometime this month, with the new rates....

Do you know if they load the stuff on Tuesday or Wednesdays?

Goldi

FYI - Flying Spirit for the first time in Oct.

Should I get the seat assignments so the 3 of us are together (bought tickets online)?

and what are the restrictions on lugguage or carry on....

Are they aggressive about enforcing?

hey goldilocks,
i am flying spirit also in oct.
you can secure your seat assignments 90 days before the day you leave.
i sat up last night and confirmed mine at 12:01 as the 4th it is 90 days out for me.
you can then print your boarding passes 45 days out and up to 12 hours before your flight leaves.
when you do the seat assignments on line, only 60% of the seats will be available. the rows from 1-7 and the last three rows and exit rows are seat confirmed at the counter at the airport. if you do not want to sit in the seats that are available 90 days out, then go to the spirit counter and request those seats then on the day you leave.
they hold those seats for handicap and some for families with small children.
i was going togo for the bulk head seat as i need the leg room but went ahead and booked row 8 this morning.
about luggage, you are allowed 2 bags up to 70 lbs. , one carry on besides a purse/laptop/briefcase,etc.
any more ??, just ask.
i may have forgotten some of your questions, i get typing and forget the other points lol
raven::yes::

I booked my seats as like 21 AC and 14 AC on either trip. Can I get an exit row now at check-in or am I stuck in these?

hey football
row 15 is good, 21 is not in my opinoion.
the wing is at about row 17-25, more noise and no view when over the wing area.

i booked my seat selection/ row 8 going down/9 coming back but will switch those. want a bulk head seat. more leg room, close to the rr,
you can make your seat selection and still change them at the counter as long as you have not printed out your boarding pass. once you print your boarding pass those seats have your butt on them.

the only way that could change is if no one wants the exit seats and the stewards need a volunteer to switch.
you have more leg room in that section.

anymore questions just ask me. i might not have all the answers but if i do know, i will share with you.

Raven,

You said that you booked your seats at 12:01 am. What time zone? We will be 90 days out later this week and I want to get 5 seats all the way across near the front of the plane. My 4 year old has never flown before so he needs a window seat to look out!

Thanks for all of the info on Spirit. I have never flown Spirit before - but I just could not pass up the ticket price.

central time zone.
i think spirit's hub is in the midwest/detroit?? correct me if i am wrong but i sat up until midnight and reserved my seat at 12:01.

the first 7 rows will be blocked. those rows have to be booked at the spirit counter on the day you leave. they open 3 hours prior to the first plane leaving.
i have row 8 which is fine for me.
you can only print boarding passes at the 45 day out window and up to 12 hours before take off.
if you go to spiritair.com go to the section where you can see the layout of the plane and its seating arrangements.
one side has two seats across the other 3 seats across.

good luck on your trip. any more?? just ask.

hey on the way down ive got seats 24ac and the way up ive got 13ac on the way down 24 was the furthest up row available. also is there any incentive to print boarding passes if im checking luggage anyway?
