Last week read that Spirit was going to charge $5 per checked bag and also slash fares by 40%. Ok, that sounds fine.........................reality- just checked Nov. rates and they are almost 3 times the normal fare. Looks like we will be flying another airline.

I'm not sure about reducing the air fare but the baggage has stiff fees.

For 1st Bag – $5 USD Web/ $10 USD Airport

Excess Weight Fees:
51 to 70 lbs. (23 - 32 kg) $25
71 to 99 lbs. (32 - 45 kg) $100

So far AirTran seems to be the consistant with lowest prices, great service and good flight times...out of Detroit at least.
