Spirit Air and Frontier Air Advice

PHL is a hub for American so there are always plenty of direct nonstop flights. I just don't know why the price isn't coming down.

Nonstop are not more expensive. They are actually cheaper than the connections. Mid to late August, American flights start at $357. Keep in mind we can't take a flight before 11:30am on morning of debarkation (they'd be a bit cheaper if we could ).

I know. I wasn't referring to you- the app who flies in October when it generally cheaper than August

Hey, out of curiousity- what is Delta for your dates? Or I guess what are your dates? I'm looking at late August and I'm sure it's your preferences that make it expensive...but prices actually don't look too bad

$413!!! And no direct or nonstop flights from PHL. Aug 17 coming back the 25th. Also have to check rates for 5 pax and no flights before 11:30 am on the 25th. We're flying down the day before the cruise.

I know it's an added cost, but I would give fairly serious consideration to possibly returning on the 26th. Usually things go smoothly, but delays could end up costing you even more. And if you're flagged as a "no-show" because the cruise disembarked behind schedule, it could be an issue. Then again, I'm a bit paranoid...

We always do it this way. We can't anyhow since we start school on the 28th. The flights we're looking at aren't until the evening so if it gets cancelled we'll pay extra and jump on an earlier flight. When we were fogged out of Galveston and missed our flight, our trip insurance paid all the changes to the air. It's called trip interruption.

Have you tried booking two separate airlines? It's the 25th that is crazy expensive.

You could book American for the 16th or 17th, and frontier for the 25th, I think...

I checked that already, but thank you. Tix would be $382 each. I've never paid (would never pay) that much for PHL>MCO to fly with them. On SW last time it was like $189. They do have the free bag, so that's good. But American is cheaper, and I'm still eyeballing the Spirit or Frontier, or combination of both actually is cheapest.... that is if I'm feeling brave. :hyper: We also don't love SW bc we always have a big issue with trying to all sit together.

That's about as low as I've seen.

I don't know. I see what you're up against- your flights are even high for August specifically because of the days you're flying. I'd probably just pony up the money- spirit is terrible- and I mean terrible at communication and it's entirely possible that you won't know the flight is cancelled in time to book an earlier flight. Added risk is that MCO flights are filled with families- it could be really difficult to get five tickets at the last moment in August. That's a big travel week.

I had a feeling it had to do with one of our dates. We really can't move them. We're already paying $400 just to board our dog for all the time! Plus extra hotel night before. And parking at the airport. We just can't make this trip any longer than it is. I think I will try a combo of the airlines ; that's a good idea. I think we've definitely decided NOT to fly Spirit back home. Maybe Frontier home and American there (or Spirit; at least we'd have choices to change it to going down and time to do so as well). And P.S. Thank you everyone for your good ideas and advice!

I definitely get not being able to move your dates. It' just that early morning flights shake a little money loose.

The 25th really is crazy expensive. I couldn't believe how pricy just Frontier was.

Just our luck.... but we did choose this cruise date bc the entire cruise itself was several hundred cheaper, so there's that...

Try the website above. You can't book the flights through it but it gives you a good idea. We are cruising over February 2018 school vacation and found cheap flights at $700 per person! :scared1: If you can get back to MCO for an 11am flight there is nonstop down and back for 267 on American.

JetBlue out of BWI to MCO round trip for two adults and 3 children is $1522. Return flight leaves MCO at 12:33pm.

My wife flew Spirit one time to St Thomas and got stuck in Ft Lauderdale for hours on her way there. We flew JetBlue for the first time two years ago and they made me a customer for life. TV's on every seat with DirecTv, full size snack bags for free. That price above also includes one checked bag for each person.

One thing you could also check, some airlines will have their cheapest tickets available, but only 2 left. When you search for 5, it might not show you those 2 as available. But you could book all the same flights as 2 and 3. So even if you paid, say $250 for 3 and $180 for 2, that would be cheaper than $250 for 5. Just make sure, if you do this, that you are booking all the same flights and don't accidentally choose the next day or next flight (happened to me once, and was a hassle to change!)

Anyway, do a search for 2 seats, then do the search for 5 and see if they are the same or not.

Ok. I hit the "like" button. I can't find the "Brilliant" button.

Doesn't work.. . Already tried. .. :crazy2: I always start my searches with just one seat to judge what's going on with the prices.
