So you have me (almost) convinced that a fanny pack is ok in wdw. :earboy2: But I am notorious for over-packing. What do you put in your fanny pack that is essential without including the kitchen sink?

This is where I keep the little rainponchos. Then there is no running back to the room. Couple of Tylenol, notepad & Pen, small cardholder for FP and tickets, bandaid, list of reservations, and email adresses in the notepad to send your picture from epcot.

Oh and a couple of wetwipes. :)

My pack contains:

Digital camera
Extra batteries and cards for camera
Cash
Credit cards, room key, ID
Small container of ibuprofen
Extra moleskin

And that's it! I keep my cell phone in my pocket instead of my pack so I can feel it vibrate. And it has a little clip on the outside where I can hang my sunglasses. Otherwise, those two items would probably go in there as well.

Sunglasses
Moleskin (cut into small pieces)
Tiny bottle of sunscreen
Wet wipes
Emergency poncho
Money
Admission ticket
Extra socks (if going on a water ride)
Room key
Priority seating #s

I also put my cell phone in my pocket so that I can feel it vibrate when the sound is turned off.

ID, roomkey, park passes, cash and ps #'s in the outside pocket. Inside larger pocket, camera, dollar store ponchos if it calls for rain, crystal lite single packs a pin or two and extra backs for dd's pins along with the locking pin tool, childrens and adult tylenol (one or two of the pop outs), bandaid and a couple safety pins my cellphone and a few small ziplocks.

DD's 9 and 11 carry in theirs, an autograph book and pen, a rain poncho if its looking like ran, infor card with name, resort and my cellphone number, a cereal bar and other small snack.

Most of the things like the bandaid and tylenol just stay in a small ziplock on the bottom and the rest gets used and moved. We all have pretty small fanny packs and just buy water when we need/want it.

My bil carries a huge one with water, video camera and just about the kitchen sink!

Cash, credit cards, room pass, Park Pass, pen, small container of meds, seperate pocket for phone, 3 rolls of film. Switched to a smaller pack, with 3 pockets, the last one had 6! ;)

Fanny packs are great!! I know they can look silly  to wear, but having your hands free is even better.

Whats in my fanny pack:

camera
park tickets
money
small 1st aide kit
Tylenol
DH car keys
pen
small pad of paper

My DD has one too. My rule is you bring it you carry it!!

Oh, also has a water bottle holder on both of ours.

Frankly, I don't think you could fit the kitchen sink into the fanny pack, even if you wanted to. It would melt and make a terrible mess.

Had to read this twice....Now I get it :rotfl:

Can't wait to try that kitchen sink on our first stay at BWV this Jan. (won't be putting it in the fanny pack, tho)... :rotfl:

DH, dd and I all wear fanny packs (no matter how dorky--actually, dd's has Mickey on it and is cute!). Here's what's in mine:

bandaids
sunscreen
hand sanitizer
room key/park tickets
gum/fruit snacks
priority seating phone number
driver's license

mini bottle of Purell
small tin with adult & child Motrin
walllet (room key, cc's, id, passes)
digital camera
occasionally the autograph book & pen

Sunglasses go on the Mickey string around my neck (DH, DS11 & DS8 use the WDW strap). Cell phone goes on clip on outside of pack so I can hear/feel it.

I like being "hands free".

When I go to the Parks, I usually get a locker for the bigger things like my big bag that I keep my "in case of an emergency" change of clothes in,...

My aunt bought me this fantastic "fanny-pack" from Rand McNalley and the reason why I love it so much is b/c it's not one of those big ridiculous ones. It's very slender and sleek and it's a neutral beige color. It's so thin that i wear it under my tee-shirts and you can't even see that I'm wearing it at all! But I just always have my Excedrin, disney pass, credit card, chapstick, a coulple bucks, a hair band, and an extra memory stick and DV for my cameras in mine. And it all fits beautifully.

I try to go as light as I possibly can...here is what I typically carry in my fanny pack (and note, this is usually the ONLY bag that gets taken with us into the park, neither DH or DS take a bag):

Digital camera
Park tickets
Hotel cards
Cash
Credit cards
Autograph book
Pen
Extra camera batteries (just one extra set, leave the rest in hotel)
Extra camera card
Small coin purse with pennies and quarters for the penny presses
The tiny allen wrench needed to get the locking backs off disney pins

That's it! I usually end up putting a little cash and the credit card and my ID in my jean pocket so if I want to buy something I can get to those items quickly without having to dig in my pack AND handle my purchase.

The camera and autograph book and pen I keep in the front most zippered pocket with nothing else so I can take those in and out as we need them.

Wow. You ladies ( I assume) are overpacking.

ID's & Cards -wallet at the back.
Camera- on hand/shoulder with strap.
Lip balm/ gum- pocket.
cell phone- pocket.

EVERYTHING ELSE THEY HAVE IT or you can purchase.

just my 2cents.

I opted for a messenger bag this time. I bought it at Animal Kingdom. I love it! It isn't too big or too small. It never got in the way on any of the rides and I didn't have tons of stuff in it so that it hurt my shoulders. I will always use this now instead of a fanny pack.

It sounds like most of that would fit into your pockets. A big advantage of not having a fanny pack is that you walk right through security and don't have to wait on line.

Yeah, well, designers of women's clothes don't seem to think we need pockets. If we get any pockets at all, they are these little measly ones you can't fit all your fingers into. DH's cargo pant shorts, on the other hand, you can fit a six-pack in! (Of course, we would have never actually TRIED to fit a six-pack in there. Completely hypothetical situation. ;))

I'm sure I look like that old Dilbert cartoon that "you can never be too good looking or too well equipped" with my fanny pack and accessories:
1. fanny pack
2. clip-on hand sanitizer
3. clip-on neoprene water bottle holder
4. fastpass holder around my neck (got mine at DL) to carry tix and FPs
5. sunglasses on strap around my neck

In the fanny pack:
1. bandaids
2. small moleskin pieces
3. Advil
4. travel wallet with Disney dollars, cash, CC and ID
5. lip goo
6. tiny sunscreen
7. digital camera
8. spare batteries and memory for digital camera
9. travel pack of flushable wipes
10. travel pack of baby wipes
11. two or three small snack items (granola bar/fruit snacks, etc)
12. cell phone

DS has his own tiny Mickey fanny pack where he carries his own snacks and camera. DH carries one similar to mine, only with the big honker camera he INSISTS on carrying with his assorted lenses.

With jackets on, we look pregnant in the photos, so we just crop! :rotfl2:

My two cents. . .
