How old is your car? How many miles on it?

I am one of those that tries to make my car last as looooong as possible. My current car is a 2002 with 90K. I plan to keep it as long as I can make it last.

07 saturn vue, 58k miles. i'll have it until it dies. my 03 vue literally died after 3 years, 50k miles, even with a new transmission!

5 cars and 4 drivers in my household.

Family car, 1987 Chevy Suburban purchased new, 136,000 miles.
Mine. 2003 Ford Focus, purchased new, 86,000 miles
DW. 2000 Mercury Mountaineer, purchased new, 83,000 miles
DS. 2006 Ford Taurus, purchased used, 53,000 miles
DD. 2007 Ford Taurus, purchased used, 46,000 miles

I'm in California, so rust isn't an issue. The Suburban, so far, is the only vehicle to require any repairs, (other than brakes/tires/oil changes) knock on wood. I'm 53, and I am on my third car, (4 if you count the Suburban) got my first one when I was 17. So I keep my cars a long time. First car, a new 1974 Ford Pinto I had 16 years, traded it in on new 1990 Mercury Sable because I needed a family type car, the Pinto was still going strong with 130,000 miles. Drove the Sable 13 years, gave it to my son and bought the Focus....he drove the Sable 4 years.....passed it on to his sister, who drove it a year and totaled it, 18 years, and only reason we don't still have it is because it was totaled with 140,000 miles on it.
Where I work, we have Ford Explorers that we run until 250,000 miles. Our Ford Econoline E350 vans we run for about 500,000 miles.

02 Explorer 39000 miles... Not long ago I got my oil changed, and they were like, is your odometer broken? Im like no why, they are like the miles look too low.

No, I do not drive a lot, everything I need is right here close.

My mom bought a 2003 Focus new 6 months before I bought mine, she just turned 7,000 miles, but she's retired and only drives about 1,000 miles a year, down 2/3 from the 3,000 miles a year she used to drive when she was still working!

'09 Chevy Malibu, 14,000 miles.

My car before that - a '94 Plymouth Sundance with 70,000 miles. I drove it into the ground, but it was a good car.

I have a 2005 Sienna van with 55,000 miles on it. I am going to try and keep it for another 5 years at least.

DD has my grandmothers old 99 Camry with only 52,000 miles on it...that one is going to stick around a long time hopefully!

We also have a 99 Accord with 135,000 miles on it that DD drove before my grandmother got rid of her Camry. It's sitting in the driveway now; we were going to sell it, but now I think I may hold on to it for a while

me: 2004 Yukon Denali xl, bought new, 112k miles
DH: 2006 Lincoln LT (truck) 40k miles, bought used
DS1: 2004 Toyota Solara, bought used, 100k miles
DS2: 2001 Nissan Pathfinder bought used, 127k miles

We have put zero dollars into any of our cars for repairs, just maintenance. We will have to spend a little ($400-$500) on the Pathfinder soon for bearings, but otherwise, we have been fortunate.

That said, it's time to replace the Denali - it's the "family" car, we have to have a large SUV for business reasons (Sam's Club 2-3x per month, Denali filled from the 2nd row seats back!). We've been looking - going to buy an 08-09 Cadillac Escalade Esv.

2004 Subaru Forrester with about 140K miles on it, and still going strong.

We just got rid of the 2000 Ford Focus that had 200K+ miles on it, as it had started to have some major mechanical stuff happen, and we did not want to put a lot of money into an 11 year old car, that owed us NOTHING.

I had a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix that was great until we took a trip to NY from TX this Christmas... Here's how it went...

The miles rolled over to 100,000 miles and my husband says, "Oh look...we've hit the 100,000 mile mark!" Not five minutes later it busted...We got home, but needless to say it was gone the next weekend and replaced with a 2007 Jeep Compass.

me: 1994 GMC jimmy - 214,000+ miles (may be 215,000+ by now, i forget, lol).
DH - 1990 chevrolet camaro - i think it's close to 200,000 miles. everyone who sees this car wants it and begs to buy it from DH, but he loves it, lol.

i'm going to drive my car 'til the wheels fall off. i LOVE not having a car payment, and, until i get a job outside my home, i can't afford one anyway.
unfortunately, my car has developed a fuel injector issue and the gas mileage has tanked. it sounds awful, and i'm not sure how much longer it's going to make it.

2003 Jeep Liberty 158,000 miles and praying that it goes for much more.

I bet you can fix the fuel injectors for less than one month's car payment. Certainly for less than the down payment and sales tax on a new car.
