Spinoff of spinoff: shortest flight you’ve taken

San Diego to Los Angeles, which took about 25 minutes in the air. This was due to an overbooked flight from San Diego to Philadelphia on USAir. They asked for volunteers to take a later flight. Since I was in no hurry, I accepted a $200 voucher for future travel. Then they rerouted me San Diego-Los Angeles-Philadelphia. The LAX-PHL leg was in first class.

The shortest flight I intentionally booked was one a few posters already mentioned. Victoria to Vancouver, British Columbia.

Years and years ago, Delta used to operate a flight from Orlando to Tampa. It was about 7 minutes in the air. We used to take it often after a Disney vacation to go visit family in Tampa before heading back to OH. The pilot even had us all look out the window to see MK fireworks from above one night on that flight. Once in a lifetime opportunity!

Moorea to Tahiti. The airplane was about the size of a Buick (including the bench seats) and by the time we got up in the air, we were coming down for the landing.

Either Martha's Vineyard to NYC or NYC to Williamsburg, VA.
After writing this I'm pretty sure it was MV to NYC.
However the NYC to Williamsburg, VA solidified it for me: no more planes where the pilot and co-pilot are only separated by a curtain and there are no flight attendants. My nerves can't take it, LOL.

On a Cessna 4 seater from a small town airport (located 40 Mins. From Toronto)
To Niagara Falls, Ontario. We circled the falls, and returned to departure airport.
In total about 1 1/2 hrs. I believe. pixiedust:

Detroit to Chicago, and vice-versa. You go up for about 15 min, level out for about 15 min, and descend for about 15 min. Add in another few minutes for take-off and landing and you are looking at about an hour total.

Then you land at Ohare and wait on the runway for about 3 hours before you can taxi to the gate. haha

If you add in airport/security time, it makes WAY more sense to drive. I can get from my western Chicago Suburb to Ann Arbor/Detroit area in about 5 hours on average, and sometimes even 4 if I hit good traffic and no construction.

I've only done vice-versa. Chicago-Detroit-San Francisco was cheaper than flying Chicago-San Francisco on other airlines, even though it was going backwards. It was on Northwest Orient, and I think Detroit was one of their hubs back in the 90s.

Dulles to Baltimore route on American a few years ago. And there were only 3 of us on the flight.

Did the same flight but it was with Eastern Airlines in 1981.

New Orleans to Baton Rouge. We were rerouted because of a power outage at the BR airport, so they flew us into NO. We sat there for about an hour. Then they flew us to BR because the power was back.

My wife had a client in the Detroit area for a couple years (Dearborn) and she flew there one time (from Cleveland). All told, a 50 minute flight took her a lot more than the 3 hours it took her to drive, so she just ended up driving back and forth most times after that first trip.

Every flight out of our hometown except for Allegiant goes to Minneapolis. So we've done the hour flight often.
