I have recently lost some weight, but I am far from "in shape". I really want to try a spinning class, but I am really nervous about it! SO for those of you that have tried it, perhaps when you were not super in shape, what did you think?

Did you like it?
DId you hate it?
Any advice?

I have to say, I took a few when I was in really good shape (rode my lifecyle an hour every morning, went to the gym every afternoon, then took my dog on a long walk), and they kicked my butt!

Spinning is easily customized to your fitness level. You usually work at your own level and determine what that is. For example, you decide how much tension to put on your bike, and what is comfortable and sustainable for a longer "climb" or a short, fast sprint. A lot of times, there are "free" sections of the routine- you can climb a hill, do sprints, squats, etc. It does kick your butt, for sure, but I really feel any level can do it. I did it a lot for a long time, but I got kind of burnt out after awhile. It is fun, though.

Spinning can be made for your level of fitness- by the resistance of the bike.
It is a great leg work out.. But the bike seats are made for men-the stem is long and very painful (wear a good pair of bike pants).

Personally, I found Spinning very boring. I love change and choregraphy in my fitness classes-which spinning doesn't provide... But for many people that is exactly what they like.

Try one out-be sure to go early and have the instructor help set you up on the bike.

Good luck:thumbsup2

I love my spinning classes, find them very motivating, all leves go, you can put as much or as little effort in, but they II find them tough and sweath my behind off at them.
Good luck, just try one, what you got to loose(well except sweat!)

before I try any new class at the gym, I go a couple of minutes early and tell the instructor, "Hey, I'm new to this, so sorry if I look like a fool....ha ha...." They usually brief you on anything you should know, pointers etc.....

this is a very good point, especially with spinning, because the instructor can help you set up your bike.

go! spin is a ton of fun. your heiney will hurt most likely the first few times, but I promise, it does get better! and it is definitely a great workout that you can customize to your level.

have fun. I haven't been to a spin class in 3 weeks and am so excited to start back on monday. :) :) :)
