Spiders????? HELP

Ok this is kinda funny but my DS14 HATES spiders! Last year at WDW we went to see the tree of life show. Well when the big spider come out, we had to leave the show (yes he was 13 then)!! SO my question is.....is there any rides or shows with spiders??

The Mummy has a trillion beetles that crawl over the walls.

And I think there is one in Shrek, but I could be wrong about that...

I am terrified of spiders as well so I refused to go on a Bug's life. Do not take him on Shrek I thought that would be safe but there was a lot of spiders I did not like it at all. Spiderman is fine there are no spiders in that.

I'm not crazy about spiders either...I've had more than one Huntsman spider in my house! I know they eat bugs and stuff but they can go outside and eat all they want.

I am very terrified of spiders to the point where I have changed my life so that I don't go near where spiders are. I handle spiderman ride very well. all you see is the spiderman logo which is red. Does not bother me at all. In shrek there are many many tarantulas that come at you. I close my eyes and lift my legs up. It is difficult for me to do shrek but it is a great show. I would highly recommend not bringing any children who are afraid of spiders to this. Over at bugs life, I sit way in the back in the handicap section because no spiders come down at you. All you have to do is tell the cm that you want to sit back there because you don't like spiders, they seem to never bat an eye when you tell them that. Also if you go to ak, sometimes cm's are standing around with little cages that sometimes have spiders in them.

There is but when you have a phobia it makes no difference at all. Even if I know they are harmless I can't look at them or I freak out. The look of them creeps me out so it can be pushing it for me to be able to handle a cartoon one. But my biggest problem with bugs life is them coming from the ceiling and feeling like the are coming down at you.....same with shrek I close my eyes but they make the chair and such move like they are coming at you....I cannot handle that at all I was completely uncomfortable and any more and I think I would have been in tears and I am 25 so I would think a 14 year old with the same fear would not do well either. You hate them but some people have an extreme fear of them that goes far beyond just not liking them. As I said I get chills just by looking at a picture of one or one on tv.

Might seem goofy to you, but I don't really care. Last year when we were at Its' a bugs life, When the BIG fake spider come out I know DS14 would want to leave. I looked at him and saw the fear, and I know he would just sit there, not wanting to admit he wanted to leave. So I said let go. And we did. I didn't tease him. I know this is something he wishes he could change about himself.

We are on vacation...................WHY would I want to take him to see Sherk knowing he would hate it? When you love someone you do want you can for them! I might not understand the fear either, BUT I would ever tell someone that they are goofy!

Thanks to those who understands and saved DS14 from going to see Sherk, DS14 is VERY thankful.

I think people freaking out because of closed spaces and elevators is stupid. A phobia is a phobia. Just the thought of a spider on me will freak me out. I can't even go near a plastic spider ring without freaking out. There is a difference between real and fake however when you have a phobia it is just the idea of something and that is with any phobia. Will someone really die if they go into a MRI machine? I know many people who freak out on this and you can just crawl out of the machine if you need to.

a terrible phobia of spiders i was in the army out in the field had my weapon forgetting theres fake bullets i shot at one with my fake ammo i was just terrified the spider scene in shrek kinda creeps me out a very lil with the 3d effects but its still fun itll take him awhile to control it and have a good time at shows like that but once he learns he'll be ok im still learning myself and im 27 so give it time

I'm not arachnophobic, but real spiders do bother me a lot. The spiders in ITTBAB are huge and are really there. The ones in Shrek are smaller and look like cartoon spiders and are projected in the movie. They're not really there like they are in ITTBAB.

There is one physical effect, but if he lifts his feet and closes his eyes during the scene where Donkey and Shrek enter the woods, he wouldn't even notice. It's very similar to the rat effect in HISTA.
IMO, Shrek is too cool to miss just to avoid the 5 seconds that show spiders. It's way better than HISTA, Muppetvision, and Philharmagic. I've never laughed so hard at a 3D movie.

OP said her son had to leave when the big cartoon spider was on the screen so this would have been before they came from the ceiling therefore Shrek would bother him. I closed my eyes in Shrek and still came out of that ride shaken because they also make it feel like they are everywhere even though they aren't. I didn't find Shrek at all worth the spider portion. Everyone is different but from what OP has said I think her son would be bothered by it.
