My son suffers from a little bit of motion sickness. He did fine on Star Tours (actually rode it twice).....is Spiderman a lot more motion etc than Star tours?? He just loves Spiderman but at the same time I don't want him to get sick on the ride! Thanks for your opinions!

It is definitely more motion, or at least more sense of motion being 3D and all. I'ts a great ride, much better than Star Tours, I can't remember all the details however, some of the regulars can describe it a bit more.

If he did Star Tours and was fine, I would think he could do Spiderman but since it's 3-D, it may be more of a challenge. Check YouTube and see what's posted of the attraction and see if you think he could do it w/o any trouble. The video will help some.

Thanks for your advice! Does anyone have a good experience with kids (my son is 7) taking any kind of motion sickness med....and did that help???

I had really bad motion sickness as a child and am much better now. However, I can barely stomach an entire ride on Star Tours or the old Back to the Future attraction, but Spiderman is completely different for me. Just plain fun. Your son's mileage may vary.

I agree! Star Tours makes me queasy but Spiderman doesn't bother me at all.

My DH who suffers from motion sickness cannot do Star Tours/Simpsons but can do Spiderman without any problem.

Star Tours really kills my back because it throws you around. Spiderman is simulated. The car itself doesn't move that much. If you start feeling sick, just close your eyes.

agree re the back issues

i've had few issues w/vertigo, etc.; specialist told me in lieu of closing eyes, to instead find a point in the ride vehicle that isn't moving (avoid seeing the surrounding movement) & fix gaze...works like a charm:thumbsup2

I too have developed Vertigo and Spiderman doesnt bother me (simpsons yes)

With that said... it is such a good ride, it's worth feeling queasy the rest of the day, to ride it.

:thumbsup2

Since Spiderman is actually a vehicle that moves forward like a regular ride, the motion sickness probably would be less of a problem than on a stationary flight simulator, like Star Tours, but I don't know for sure, I can ride any of them without any problems

Spiderman shouldn't be a problem. I've never had any problem on Star Tours but didn't care for the old Body Wars ride at Epcot.

Star Tours to me is as rough as BTTF ride was!!
Spidy is alot smoother!!

Though Spiderman is very smooth, it does have some parts that spin. I believe the ride does three pretty fast 360 degree turns then one more later on. If your son can handle the end of MIB then he should be ok. As others have stated, Spidey is way smoother than Star Tours. In my opinion, Spiderman is the best darkride ever made!!! :charac4: (We'll see how Potter pans out.) :thumbsup2

I agree that SpiderMan is easier to take than StarTours, but it does like to spin around quite a bit.

DH has alot of motion sickness issues. He doesn't tolerate Star Tours well, but he can ride it without hurling. Spiderman is better for him, but makes him marginally ill. He thinks it is better because on Spidey, you move forward and are not stationary. Try it.

Spiderman does not cause DH the same issues as Star Tours does.

Spiderman made me very queasy.

I've never done Star Tours, but BIL really wanted the kids to go on Spiderman, so I went along.

I won't make that mistake again.

Also, you didn't ask, but Men In Black also made me very queasy.

I have TERRIBLE motion sickness and will never step foot on star tours ever again! Same goes for the Simpsons ride....however, I can ride Spiderman with no problem....I think because you are actually moving it might make the difference. But, my husband ended up getting motion sickness on Spiderman. The next time he rode it, he took a motion sickness pill and resolved the motion sickness. He ended up loving the ride.
