I had to put Spicey to sleep this Saturday.

He had kidney problems - but he seems to be given up. his normal weight was 9.5 lbs - on Sat he weighted 4lbs....

so I let him go.

I will miss him forever!!!

Pat,

I am so very sorry. It is very difficult to lose a pet. My thoughts are with you.

Bob

Pat,

I am so sorry for your loss. Pets hold such as a special place in our hearts and it hursts so much to lose one. :grouphug:

So sorry to hear that you have lost your long time companion. They become such a part of our families. We are at that point with our dog (our first child). It is hard to make that decision.

I'm so sorry to hear about Spicey. :sad1: You absolutely did the right thing, it sounds like he was ready to go. We had to do the same with our dog last May, and it is so incredibly, terribly hard. Hang in there, we're thinking of you.

Pat,
From a person who loves her cats more then most can understand, I totally, totally feel for you and your loss. It sure sounds like Spicey was lucky to have you. If only all cats could have a life of love like that.
You did the most unselfish thing for your beloved Spicey. What a difficult choice and atleast you did the right thing. I am truely sorry for your loss.
My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry. I know how difficult it is to make that choice ... I had to do the same for my precious 17yo cat 3 years ago. I hope that time will help ease the pain. :grouphug:

I'm sorry :( If you are looking for support, you can try the free www.petloss.com chatroom and forums. I know some other DIS'ers who go there too. Tonight, there is a candle ceremony in the chatroom in memory of our pets. See more info on the site and ask about it in the moderated chatroom.

Oh Spicey! I remember when I first saw Spicey's pic and said he looked like my baby Winston! I'm so sorry you have had to say good-bye - how much we love our little fur babies and their lives with us are too short. Helping our babies on their final journey, keeping them safe from too much suffering, is part of our commitment to them. I know how profound it is to let them go.

 (from me)

:grouphug: So sorry for your loss, I know how pets become one of the family and the loss is very real.

So sorry to hear about Spicey. I know how hard it is to lose a pet.

Oh Pat, I'm so sorry.

I know how very hard this is, but I hope you take comfort in the fact that through your love and devotion, you absolutely and unselfishly, did the right thing so that Spicey is now free of pain and illness.

I just know that he is happily swatting at butterflies and lounging in the sunlight now, and very grateful to his best friend and life long companion, that you loved him enough to not allow him to suffer.

from your neighbor here in Birmingham, we also have been through the loss of a pet, all our prayers.

:grouphug:

My heart and love go out to all that love Spicey.

Spicey is now in Heaven, having a great time!

:grouphug:

I'm sorry this has happened. You've had a wonderful times together, I have thought of you whenever I see the WDW kennels.

Spiceycat,

My thoughts are with you. A copy of this poem was given to my wife and I, by our vet, after we had to put on of our beloved cats down a couple of years ago.

"Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together."
