Spice or R&C for Illuminations?

My family has never actually watched Illuminations from beginning to end and I want to rectify that.

I know there is good viewing from the Rose & Crown and from Spice Road Table. Which is best? I hear the view is better from R&C, but it seems like that would only be if you were lucky enough to get a good table. Does Spice Road have more tables with a good view? I don't want to go if there's a good chance we'll be stuck at a table with no view at all.

We like the food at both places so we're not taking that into account. This is solely about Illuminations!

None of the restaurants in EP guarantee a table with a good view. If you really want to guarantee a good view, I would eat prior to the fireworks and then find a good spot around the lagoon. Or, book the dessert party.

I recall R&C 'guarantees' a place in their viewing area, but not a table with a view (as PP mentioned).

I don't think Spice Table 'guarantees' any space for viewing - table or standing room.

R&C has a designated viewing spot (although not very big) along with a few tables with a view. SRT has limited tables with a meh view and no viewing location. In both restaurants you can request a view, along with everyone else, so they may or may not be able to sit you at a table with a view. If you must eat while watching IllumiNations, go with R&C. However, there are lots of places to watch from, you are better off eating and getting a spot anywhere.

While they don't guarantee a TABLE with a good view, R&C does guarantee A view. They are the only one to offer a viewing area to those who are not at a table with a view
None of the others do.
So for that reason, OP, I would only pick R&C in your case. We have done Spice Road a few times during Illuminations and have not been able to see Illuminations well at all. Even out on the patio.
But if you only want to go if you can get a table, then skip it. There is no way to guarantee a table and there is a very good chance you will have a table without a view

Thanks, everyone! I've never been able to get my family to stop and watch Illuminations in the past, but I think they'd like it if they did. I thought if we combined it with eating dinner I'd have everybody held captive and they'd watch it. I think I'll get a table at either R&C or Spice Road and if we don't end up with a good table we'll eat quickly and then head out to a better place to view the show. I think I can convince everyone to stay in one place long enough to watch it for once. My kids don't like to stand still for fireworks or parades, although they do like to stop for those little "mini shows" throughout the parks.
