So, I went to go play my Animal Crossing: City Folk Wii game this morning only to discover that the remote wasn't properly working. The power button worked, but nothing else. :confused3

Nintendo's trouble-shooting page had me do a few things - but to no avail. I called their toll-free number and was pleasantly surprised to have a good experience :) Their Customer Service is outsourced - but to Canada - so I didn't have the same problems I had when I called Dell a few weeks ago.

She had me run a few tests and it was determined that EITHER the remote control had shorted out, or the sensor bar was defective. (I had to actually take a picture of the sensor bar and look at it through the LCD of my digital camera to determine if the infra-red sensors were working properly.) Who knew?

So I run to Target and buy a new remote - get home, sync it up and .... same problem. I call Nintendo back and order a new sensor bar - I'll have it 3-8 days - cost $14 with shipping - not too bad. (I'll return the remote to Target tomorrow.)

Anyway - I got home from school this evening and was greeted by only one cat - Mackey. Looked around for Blackie - found him behind the TV stand with one of his "chewy" toys. I shooed him away and while I was back there, I figured I might as well unplug the Wii sensor bar from the back of the Wii unit. Imagine my surprise to find the sensor bar wire completely chewed up - and Blackie looking at me with the "was it bad that I did that?" face!

So much for trouble-shooting, huh? :goodvibes

Fur Babies - gotta love 'em (but wish I could find some way for the to cover some of their own costs!!!)

keep your extra wiimote! you never know when you'll have someone extra who wants to play. :)

i think you can actually buy new sensor bars at walmart, i know i've seen them there. if you ever have this problem again.

That's funny. Glad you figured it out.
