how much do we need per day

we are 2 adults, 1 child age 4 and 1 infant age 2, we are staying at newport bay and will take advantage of the breakfast there each morning. We will probably have fast food type meal for lunch and a sit down proper meal on the evening. Souvenit wise we are not planning on getting much, maybe a cuddly and one other small item for each child, and probably only a couple mugs for us. Do you think 150 euros per day will be enough??

thanks
xxx

for a sit dowm meal we paid around 80euros However i think that they do a set menu that is cheaper in most places. I am not sure how much fast food costs as we did not eat lunch as filled up on breakfast. If your not spending too much in the shops 150 should be enough. I would keep your children away from the shops untill your actually buying something. For the items that your thinking of buying i don't think will cost more than 15euros.

the meals in the "real" restaurants (i;e. table service restaurants) are more or less the following: kiddie-meal: 10 euros, adult in buffet restaurant (like Cape Cod): 25 euro, adult-menu in "normal" restaurant (like Manhattan): 34 euro. I think kiddie-menu includes 1 drink, adult prices are drinks not included. (soda at Manhattan restaurant: it says 3.90 euro on the menu, but on the bill was 3.50 euro. I think at Cape Cod it was 3.20 euro)

We never eat three times a day... we have breakfast (at hotel or GMFL), and then have dinner at night, and we bring snacks from home to eat while in line (Milky ways, cookies, ...)
This time, we ate the first day at the park, since we didn't get proper breakfast because our train was so early. My mom and brother both got a Tuna sandwich (5.70 euro) and I had a delicious Croque Monsieur (it was also 5.70 euro). This was at the Market House Deli. We didn't drink during this lunch, we drank afterwards water outside that we also brought from home. Yes, this may sound cheap, but I think drinks are very expensive at DL!

I also ate 1 waffle (with chocolate, mjammie!) and that was about 3 euro.

Fudge is 2.90 euro/ 100 g (it is DELICIOUS, and the CM was great!!!)
That are the prices I still know by heart!

I know the beanie plush toys are +/- 10 euro each, the bigger plush ones are +/- 25-30 euro each.
Mugs... it depends which ones you like, I guess.

I think 150 a day is more than enough. I'd agree that you'll probably only need a snack for lunch after a big breakfast. We acquired some yogurts at each breakfast sitting for DD (3) to eat mid morning and we made do with sharing one adult/one kids meal between three at lunch or the two adults sharing a croque monsieur and a cookie. We did buy a lot of bootled water and DD ice lollies due to hot weather but these were only about 3-4 euros each. Our most expensive meal was about 95E and that was at the Inventions buffet. Although an adult meal was about 42E in comparison other meals of the day were around 28E each our DD ate free given your children's ages it might be the same at the other buffets too.King Ludwigs also does a deal at certain times that a child eats free with two adult meals being purchased. The meal our DD received would have had enough pasta to share between two and you could buy an extra drink and dessert.

Thats a good idea. Will have to make note of that for future :goodvibes

i agree with the others... it shoudl be enough... and you probably won't want a big lunch! we tend to share a kid's fast food meal (between two adults) or grab a small hot-dog or a donut and a cup of tea... and that's more to stop us freezing than anything else! lol...

good luck with the shopping... i always plan to only buy this and that... and i kinda buy EVERYTHING... lol.. especially if i use the shopping service (get everything sent back to the hotel) cos i forget how much i've already bought... hmmmm...

As your two are little I would think that is enough.

We do lunch as it gives the children a rest and some ' quiet ' time, that and I get to rest my aching feet.

There are coffee mugs you can buy in the parks that are refillable. You get the rest of your hot drinks cheaper when you give them the cup. It is a solid plastic mug with a lid. I forget how much this was but not too much. That way you might combine your costs.

Hi
We are 2 adults and 2 teenagers and we usually allow £100 per day spends and put any expensive evening meals such as Blue Lagoon on the Nationwide CC. We usually bring back quite a few euros though, which we naturally keep for our next trip!

I tend to treat it as a chance to feed my face on all the stuff I don't allow myself at home. I have several energy bars in my bag and make sure I have an excellent breakfast at the hotel to start the day. Bottled water I always carry and I tend to graze my way round and snack on stuff as and when I start to feel peckish. I wouldn't say it's the healthiest diet - of course you can always stick a couple of apples in your bag - but for a few days it does keep the wolf from the door so to speak.

The amount of spending is a very personal thing regarding what is important to you. On some occassions we've had less than €150/day (we are a family of 5) and had a great time, but obviously stayed away from the table service restaurants.
On other occassions (like when we went to Innventions €130 for supper) we have planned to do some special things and needed a bit more money.
I'm sure you will have a great time regardless :goodvibes

I have thought about making this comment and I don't want to upset anyone. What you spend is very personal but as a family of 4 with two bigger children we need a fair bit more than this per day.

I don't know if you have seen this site: http://www.dlpfoodguide.com it has prices for meals and will give you an idea about costs. I would hate for you to go and not have enough to spend because we had told you it was ok.

Little ones have very large eyes in Disney and need a lot of things.

I hope not to have offended anyone. pixiedust: :grouphug:

i dunno... eating a little and often keeps your metabolism up... and think of all the calories you're burning off walking all day anyway! lol...

(sorry... a little OT... i'll shush now..)

I don't know if it would help but you can prepurchase meal vouchers - we used them last time, it really helps to budget, knowing as in our case we had one sit down meal paid for each day, You can choose lunch or dinner vouchers - we alternated each day, downside was that we went in October and not all of the eligible restaurants were open everyday.
For our next visit I've hopefully prebooked a meal everyday whether it's a Character breakfast/lunch/Bufallo Bill etc. so again I know that's all paid for.
The breakfast menu at the hotel is fantastic, take advantage of that and I know lots of people take a few rolls, croissants, yoghurts etc. with them for munching later. Make sure you can get a breakfast time that is suitable for you - last time we were rather late checking in to the hotel and only early morning slots were left available -useless for my family, although I did go down to breakfast on my own with a carrier bag to take supplies back to the troops most days. :wizard:

When it comes to souvenirs I don't think you can budget and have to confess if there's something we want that's outside the allocated apending money I use my credit card.

Clearly the hotel is trying to spread the load of everyone coming to breakfast at the same time, but they are flexible :goodvibes . When we said to CM that slots were not really suitable, they said to come at whatever time :)

That's worth knowing :thumbsup2 I didn't think to ask - actually I still have a couple of those breakfast vouchers left, assuming they're still the same I shall take them and we can hopefully have a choice of times. :stir:

I know! Last visit I took a step counter with me and by the time I was done I'd walked 18 miles over a day and a half. Marathon training here I come!
