hi all....i am just looking for a bit of advice...havent been to DLP in 3 years or so and have no idea anymore of spending money needed. Now before anyone states the obvious....i know it totally depends but i am just trying to get a ballpark idea. we are a family of 4...2 adults and two kids aged 9 and 13. we want to eat one take out and one table service meal a day at decent restaurants like inventions. we will want to buy some souvenirs. can you all give me an idea of what you think (ballpark) we might need OR what you yourself spent on a recent trip? TIA :goodvibes

This time We are bringing 150-200 euro per day for two adults. We are on full board, so it's only on gift. The other times without food we had bring 200 euro. We save up to it all year

We are taking approx 800 euros for 3 nights

we are staying at hotel new york so going to stock up on a hot breakfast , take some snacks and grab the odd pastry during the day as we have half board vouchers and then have a semi early dinner as we go in december so the parks won't be open that late

if you go to DLRP magic they have all the menus and current prices which may help you to budget

:)

That's what I was going to suggest too - also look at the Restaurant Review threads on here as Carrie Cat kindly posts photos of the new menus for us.

As for souvenirs - what are you thinking of buying? Plushes? Keyrings? Pins? Clothes?

We're going last week in November for 3 nights/4 days and I've worked it out to the following (this is for two adults and a toddler):

400 euros for my daughter (who will be 18 months). This is because I want to be able to buy her whatever we/she wants. I've always gone mad on Disney stuff when I've been on my own so heaven knows what I'll be like when I have my DD there! My DH is expecting the worst.... :rotfl:

300 euros for food and drink - we are going half board so we shouldn't need too much extra for that, just drinks and snacks and some extras on the meals. Our vouchers won't cover the full cost of Inventions for example so I know I'll need extra for that. Before we booked half board I had budgeted 500for this.

300 euros for spending money for DH and I. May also be known as the 'in case DD runs out of money' fund but hoping to get a couple of Christmas pressies out of it.

We're trying not to limit ourselves at all if possible. I know my DD is only small but if we see stuff for her I want to be able to just buy it. Plus things like the plushes can be expensive. This is how I'm justifying it in my Disney obsessed mind anyway...... :scratchin

As you've said it does depend on your own individual circumstances. You can do it on less money than I'm budgeting too!

Im going next month for 2N/3D just myself and DD and Im bring €100/day plus €100 over so €400. This will be an easier trip to control moneywise. DD can buy a few bits and we have inventions booked as a treat.

Also going in January with DS and a friend for 3N/4D and have budgeted to bring €700 as we will stay in Dublin the night before/after we go and I think the bigger the group the quicker we spend.

Just some advice the C/S meals aren't much cheaper then table service especially the buffets unless you go for McDonalds so bear that in mind. I think you could get away with filling up at breakfast grab a snack/pastry lunchtime & then have a main meal. Drinks are what soon add up the costs, try & get the drinks from the Train station outside as they are cheaper, also they sometimes have free drinks vouchers on the bottom of your receipt when you purchase stuff.

If you are looking at buying plushes, see if they sell them in the UK as it maybe cheaper to buy them there. I tend to buy DLRP stuff when I go, any other merchandise I can get in the UK then I leave it as the € price is much greater then the £ price.

:confused3 A full c/s menu in the park including drink and dessert is 14€.... a buffet starts at 25€...I wouldn't call that much cheaper :)

In the Village you can have a sandwich/drink/crisps meal at EoS for 10€ or just buy your sandwich and get your drinks and crisps from the station saving you a few €'s :goodvibes

thanks folks you are all so helpful!! after looking at menu prices i have discovered i am going to need a lot more money than what i thought eek!!! going to have to raise a LOT more cash!!! we are staying at DLH so could make up sandwhiches at breakfast but my 13 year old son is a bit funny about things like that and not sure he would eat it! i am planning on bringing a lot of snacks like crisps, bottled drinks, popcorn etc with us in suitcase..shouldnt be a problem with that should there?

for table service....annettes diner seems to be best value! is food nice there?

I've found that the kids meals at c/s places are a decent size and cost about 7 euros. Plus they come with ice cream!

Oh and seeing as you're staying at the DLH what you could do is take snacky things like cereal bars for the morning, head into the parks for EMH and then go back to the hotel for the latest breakfast sitting possible. The breakfasts there are amazing and if you eat as late as possible can easily act as an early lunch.

At DLH you have a full buffet breakfast with cooked items as well as loads of different pastries, yogurts, fruit etc etc.

It makes for a brunch like meal, if you ate it say at 10 after EMH you wouldn't need any lunch :thumbsup2

I also wouldn't be taking food off the buffet at the DLH for later, I know people do in the lower range hotels but there I'd find it even more :confused3 but that is maybe just me :goodvibes

does anyone know latest times for breakfast at DLH weekday?

I was meaning in terms of value for money, in that you get more for money at table service/buffets compared to C/S if you want hot food. Plus I was taking into account I get shareholders discount on TS meals which not everyone does:) EoS and sandwiches are a cheaper option:thumbsup2

Having seen that the OP is staying at the DLH you could easily get away with breakfast and one other meal as there being a choice of hot items:goodvibes

I agree with you in saying that it would seriously be frowned upon taking things from the breakfast at the DLH.

Breakfast will finish at either 10.30am or 11am, I think its the latter as its starts half hour later then the other hotels

I wasn't that impresssed the time we ate there but I seem to be the minority as most people love it there.

::yes::

I know people regularly do this at the hotels with the continental breakfasts but I really wouldn't recommend doing it here - it would be a major faux pas. Breakfast is served until 11am. Go and do EMH first and aim to get there at 10am, you'll miss the busy slot and it'll fill you up until dinner.
